ah so you're one of those proactive undergrads that seeks out research opportunities with cool profs. good call. i'd have to say the coolest thing i did in my undergrad was some computation fluid dynamic analysis applied to anatomy. biomedical is where it's at right now.
I'm a grad student, finished my undergrad in 3 years. And this is just for a class, but it is part of my partner's doctorate thesis.
Almost got into a fight at the gym tonight. Some asian kiddies didn't like the way I was playing the post. Unfortunately cooler heads prevailed.

grad school is a good place to be right now... kinda wish i did that instead of starting work back in 07. also wish i had the opportunity to go take generals in highschool like all you cats that cut a year off college... AP courses were stupid as hell. your partner has a cool thesis though, i'd like to read some of that shii if possible.
someone smacked into my rear bumper today and i yelled "f*cking idiot" in my car... the windows were down though, and everyone in the crosswalk heard. stupid female 3rd-world-immigrant drivers

I didn't have many AP credits. Just got really depressed and took my mind off of it doing classes, playing music, and working out.
I like to yell at people for being dumbasses while I am driving, but it doesn't really get to me.

ya, i'm really into brazillian stuff... such a unique sound and rich history. been diving into the tropicalia artists lately... Tom Ze, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, blablabla. should be some nice sampling material one day when i actually start making stuff. need to get into some eastern stuff now...
oh cool, i haven't the time but i tried a bit i have azymuth's discography and i dig that samba groove shi it's like jazz syncopation meets hip hop and the sounds are so invigorating

So I have a given element, g of SE(3), and a vector field V:SE(3) -> T SE(3), how do I prove that V is left-invariant and right-invariant? Do I just make a generic element, h of SE(3), and show that gV(h) = V(gh) and V(h)g = V(hg)? I was told I could do g/V for right invariance and V/g for left invariance, but that makes no sense since V is a singular matrix so what the ****?
I figured it out, thanks for the help jerks. Take g to be the inverse of h, so you are finding the velocity element of the identity. It doesn't work for left-invariance but does for right.

haha you won't get me in trouble by getting banned; you just can't get invited in again
i'd just stay underneath the 5 gig limit and just ask me what you want to download and i'll upload it for you so you can reseed it

How much do you have to upload to not get banned after 5gigs on Waffles? Isn't it like, 500MB or something stupid?
Just upload one fairly major classical work in FLAC (rent a CD from a library), that's sort you out even if only one person downloads it. That's all I've done, really, and it's got me up to 9GB uploaded.
Apocalyptic Raids
05-30-2009, 03:52 AM
I've gradually uploaded about a gig on waffles, mostly due to getting a Flaming Lips album on there early (much love to Amit for the invite). I've got 6gb credited to me though, early on they added 5gb to new users' upload credit and I got lucky.
Yeah I grabbed a Slipknot album because somebody told me it was a goldmine, and they were right - 1/3 of all my uploading comes from that one record.
Haha that's weird. That many people download Slipknot?

Double Barrel is really good.
I really dug it the first week I listened... but it wears pretty quickly.
Most of the beats are pretty derivative. it's definitely a step in the right direction for new york hardcore ****, but it's not going to make an appearance in my overall year end list.
My issue with it is the other way, I think Torae gets boring after a while. I really like Polo's beats and think he's been consistently making the best lately.
There hasn't really been anything too notable this year.
kingsoby1
06-14-2009, 12:38 PM
I agree about Torae; he benefits largely from Polo's production for sure. This is definitely some of the best stuff to come out of NY for years... I'm only saying it should have happened like 8 years ago. In 2001, this would have been a near classic.
My favorite records of the year for the genre are Mos Def and De La Soul tbh.

Lol.
He asked me if I liked it, and I told him it was garbage.
It really missed a standout track. I liked the couple singles that leaked, but as an album, it was incredibly...disappointing.
I just couldn't get into it like I could his others.
Probably because of his silly name change.

dude rams that's a great story and pic
one time i was walking down a quiet residential street to my friend's house at night. guy driving down the wrong side of the road hits a parked car head on, parked car steers backwards across the street and crashes into a tree on the side i'm walking on while the offending car stalls out for a bit before speeding off. everyone within a 10 house radius runs outside and havoc breaks out. when i got to my friend's house about 5 minutes later the assailant was parked next door with a noticeably steaming hood. was about 30 feet away from the crash

In January my dad was driving me home from visiting a friend downtown, and it was around midnight. We turn into a residential district where we live, and we see this car coming towards us really really fast in the wrong lane, and we swerve out of the way and just avoid it, only it clips our rearview mirror with this really loud BANG. We both stop in the middle of the right and this East Indian guy comes out of the front seat, staggering, and is like "wut ees wrong mistah" and my dad is like "You hit us!" and he's like "I see naaaatheeen" and they talk for a bit and my dad's like "Have you been drinking?" and he's like "Yes, Yes, I am berry berry drunk, I have had menny menny beerz" and his friend is passed out in the back seat. Eventually my dad phoned the police and they picked him. It was scary because my dad has osteo-arthritis and was in a wheelchair at the time. Then my friend picked me up and we went to his house and watched The Last Samurai. Crazy movie, that.
