My throat hurts after I sing maiden...

When we play dance of death with my band I sing it fine but when it gets the chorus when he goes and I dance and i pranced my throat starts to hurt then the next part when he goes lifeless figures i sing it like dickenson and i get major flem im lucky that i don't play guitar until the solo and i dont have other hard singing, but is there ways to avoid this?

dont try and push ur voice into sounding like what u want it to. try and sing softer as well as u can and with time ull get the sound u want.

yeah, don't strain your larynx now. Use your diaphragm, which is situated in your chest, below the end of your sternum, your voice will eventually come out of there, and with the correct breathing and practice..it's never good to strain your voice, it could be harmful. So practice some breathing excersices and some voice scales, also it would be a good thing to find out what your octave range is, maybe you're voice isnt meant to go to that level.
