Well, the demo of it at Nintendo's Allstars tour '05 anyway. There were 2 levels: 'Toaru Village' (one of those tutorial levels that comes in every Zelda game) and 'Horse Battle' or something (charge around on your horse killing things).
Toaru Village contained a load of minigames that seemed to show off the control system. You could herd goats on horseback by chasing them and pressing A to 'whoop' (yes, 'whoop') them forward, and in possibly the worst move in Nintendo history a big stupid orange "YEE-HAW" appeared in the air every time you got one to go into the barn. You could also paddle around on a boat to rescue a baby (and stare at the way the water looks), summon a falcon and throw it at stuff (with laser targeting, strangely), and all that sort of stuff. Strangely, pretty much every NPC seems to be hideously ugly.
Horse Battle pits you and (presumably) Epona against some armoured guy on a souped-up armoured warthog. He runs away from you while blowing into this stupid horn and parading around this girl you are trying to rescue, who he has tied to a flagpole. Yeah. So basically, you have to chase him while he plays his stupid horn and all his underlings charge at you and try to hit you with stuff and shoot flaming arrows at you. Hitting him was annoying because you had to time your boosts (that worked in the same way as Ocarina of Time) pretty much perfectly to catch up with him, but ignoring him for a bit and fighting everyone else was ridiculously fun.
Once you've hit him a couple of times, he jumps over this gate into some sort of castle thing. You follow him over there and these ugly goblin things set the gate on fire, conveniently trapping you two on opposite ends of a thin corridor thing with a huge drop on either side. You then basically have some sort of joustfest, ending in you (hopefully) knocking him into the abyss below, then doing the gayest pose in the history of time as the camera zooms in on you and the demo ends.
Overall it was pretty cool, but I guess I'd rather have played the other 2 demo levels that were at E3 (Forest Temple and Temple Boss) because what I played didn't really give much of an impression of how the final game will turn out. For all I know it could be the next OoT or a complete flop, but my hopes are still high.
I also played Super Mario Strikers (kinda fun, I guess), New Super Mario Bros (cool, but hard to control because the DS consoles were held in position to stop them being stolen), and Pokemon XD (I only played a battle vs some NPC so it was basically identical to Pokemon Stadium for N64 but 2 Pokemon per team).
Discuss the new Zelda or New Super Mario Bros or how you don't care about them because PS3 will have a faster processor than Gamecube and DS combined or anything else vaguely relevant to this post.
