MISC

:naughty: - A smiley that is typically frowned upon on mx. Its usually used in sex jokes and quickly became illegal (see: rules) to use against girls.

/me-o-vision - A term coined by fattymattk to describe the style of typing in which a user indicates their actions by going "/me [action]" Popularized in the "/me creates a thread" series.

/thread- Phrase used by a user who feels that the purpose of the thread has been fulfilled and the thread should die.

\m/ The rock and roll/heavy metal hand-salute went online and ended up looking like that.

:-* (Kissy face.) - Often used to exchange a feeling of love and affection towards another MXer.

¬_¬ (Sneaky Face) - Often used to denote a sneaky comment. Often used by the likes of Bagboy and Black Ink.

123 - A term implying "I agree" used after quoting a post which one agrees with

>_>/>_</<_< - Smileys all used to convey the emotion of frustration or difficulty in understanding another person.

A

AlleyMcSqueal- Punk mod that only lasted for a week. She/He blew his/her chance when he/she came into the Pit and instead of closing a thread he/she thought was bad, he/she changed the name of the thread, insulting the Pit and abusing his/her powers. He/she finally gave up being a mod and hasn't been seen much sense. He/she will be forever hated.

Alt/Indie Forum - Mx Alt Indie forum.

AIM MX Chat - Chat room on AIM where MXer's chat together outside the forums. Entry can only be gained when figuring out the name of the chat or being invited.

Amerika: German spelling of America used by Fenwood (See: Fenwood).

Android - Member known as the human thesaurus. Many believe this member is a gimmick account due to his general posting style of using very large words as often as possible

Anti-Dobber Krew: A group of Mxers including PsychoMits, Plex, Liberi, Iai and others. Flamed people who reported in the report problem users thread and spammed the said thread. Heckled users who reported, made threads about them etc. Now defunct due to mod crackdown.

Anti Flaming League - A league formed by one of the regulars on mx-- StevenEccles. He coined the term "flame = lame" and started a anti flaming trend on mx that spawned tens of avatars (as a protest) for anti flaming. It died down eventually a couple months later.

apromisingyear-MX user who made a thread asking how he would go about making 30,000 CDs for his music project. Once other posters sampled his music, the thread became one of the biggest flame-fests in recent memory.

Arab - A name given to a member of mx Ramsey. They call him this because he is of Arabic origin. Other insults may include "Sand ******, Camel Jockey" and other derogatory terms. SubtleDaggers favorite term is "Hadji." (see: SubtleDagger)

ATTN: - shorthand for "ATTENTION". Typically used in thread titles as to not clutter the title up.

Audioscrobbler - A plugin for many media players that tracks what you listen to, and creates charts of your weekly favorite artists and tracks, and alltime favorite artists and tracks. Very popular in R&M and other forums. The plugin can be found at http://www.audioscrobbler.com/ . The mx group for it can be found at http://www.audioscrobbler.com/group/Musician%2BForums

Avatar- The icon that optionally goes under your user name. Avatars help identify who you are easily without the username having to be viewed. The size limitation for avatars is 70x70 pixels.

B

Bartender - Former moderator of the CD Reviews forum, now a supermod. Famously, and unusally, nobody knows anything about him in real life. Won the second of Humor99's Top 100 MXers competitions.

Betsy - Betsy: "Betsy - "We shall call him.........Betsy" :cool:-------A nickname given to the user, Mekkalayakay, by Bagboy in the Mx AIM chatroom between late '03 and early '04. Numerous users, some not even knowing his real name, call him Betsy even to this day. And in recent times, due to the knickname, Betsy has been mistaken for a girl by ignorant noobs.

Black Box: First of the nazi mods. Would randomly ban people for no reason at all. Claimed to be a shredder on guitar but was actually a horrible guitar player. He did, however, know a lot of music theory and was fairly helpful in the guitar forum.

Black Post - Blank posts can be made by using the url tag in the proper manner. These tags can also relay secret messages between posts.

:bruce: - Gimmick account that signed up on mx, eventually started a following. It went as far as members in the site forum petitioning the management to make a :bruce: smiley. Ask you can see, it never fell through. The person being the gimmick account was CJS/Jared

Bumping - The act of posting in a thread simply to get it to the top of the first page so others may view it once more. Bumping of threads that are over a few weeks old is discouraged unless new information that is worthwhile will be posted.

C

Caps Filter - Filter provided to keep away stupid posts with all caps. It's effects can be seen when every word's first letter in a sentence is capatalized. Also known as, the DBJ-ifier, because Jims trademark was to post posts with all words having the first letter capitalized. (see: DBJ)

CemetaryGates9 - Possibly the only user to not have a post outside the Rock & Metal community thread. He was not a popular member due to fantasising about raping/murdering someone and stating several times that dreaming about these things is normal. Many people thought he was a gimmick account and that it was just someone playing a joke. One day CG went into the AIM profile of Madeyadams and retrieved her phone number from it, then he then rang her and they spoke on the phone. After the phone call Madey instantly communicated a mod about it and CemetaryGates got a 10 day ban. For some reason after his ban, Cemetary Gates never returned to MX but many believe he has made a new account and is trying to have a fresh start.

Chobey - A short fat Pen0r. Popularized by Bagboy, loved by all.

Clintilla - 'Second MXer' after mx himself, one of the most visible posters in the early days of mx. Abruptly left forums but recently spoke to Trilemma (see: Zerokewl)

Close this, Nacho - When Nachochez was a mod, many members would state "Close this thread, Nacho". The term was coined whenever someone wanted a thread closed. The reason this was coined is because Nacho would search for the words "Nacho, close this" so he could find threads that needed to be closed

CJS: Captain Jack Sparrow, also known as Reinessance. Formelly known as AlteredState17. Mods would soon be annoying/pissed with CJS, and proceed to ban his accounts----several, several several times. This resulted in CJS retaliating with one of the largest spam attacks on mx's history which got the forums shut down. He finally gave up and just became a regular poster again.

Cods - User who acheived Internet Nirvana by peeing in his girlfriends purse and crapping himself and posting pictures.

Cods for mod - Propaganda spread by the user Cods (see: Cods) throughout the forums in order to get himself modded.

Coypu: Former member from somewhere in Europe that is famous for arguing that rape should be okay and legal

DBJ/Double Bass Jim - Administrator of the site. Originally a drummer with alot of experience that joined in '02. Got modded then supermodded and finally made administrator when Mx (See: mx) wasn't able to maintain the site as well. Won both of the "Top 100 Mxers competition" (See: Humor 99; Top 100 Mxers")

Demodding - When a user is removed from moderating duty, due to inactivity, violation of rules or personal request. Black Box, Litninfingers, Plexiglass, AllyMcSqueel and m.o.d have all been demodded due to violation of rules/request (depending on who you ask).

Eggo - Poster most known for maintaining the meme database and the theory/improvisation thread in the Guitar Forum.

F

Fattymattk - An mx legend known for his witty sex and masturbation jokes. He is the founder and creator of the mx episodes. He also met up with former heavy posters Clintillia and Punkerdrummer to "spend time" with them.

Faust - Faked her suicide when Eric IMed her and she pretended to be her sister. She said that she had commited suicide. Eric went on MX and made a thread about it. She was discovered as having lied when someone saw her log on to IM. Eventually she came back to MX before leaving for good. Bisexual. Naked photos of her are on the internet.

FA Threads: Originally conceived by Mardy in the Bass Forum. These threads go in depth of one particular artist (or song, album etc.) and are written by MX' own users. They usually are stickied from a week up to a month, although it kind of depends of the activity and interest of the MXers. The Bass Forum is the most active forum with these kind of threads, already 60+ FA Threads have been created.

Fee for MX - Commonly used prank on newer unsuspecting users. Many different varities have come up (base fee, fee for usertitles, fee for having more posts). Famous victim is current mod Sting Ray.

Fenwood: A frequenter of Politics. His radically leftist views often land him into confrontations with more conservative members. His most undeniable trademark is his use of the German spelling of America (see: Amerika).

FifthAce - Undoubtedly one of the most popular members on the site. With a little over 6'000 posts, fifhace was known for his wittiness, megathreads, and humorous posts. He brought most the trends from SA over in which people on mx shamelessly ripped off. He also started the "Scott Herren" thread. See: Scott Herren

Forced Listening- A thread in which one person gives a list of lesser known songs. Another person does a review of one of the songs and posts a list of thier own. Popular because it was one of the longest running threads (still is) in mx's history.

Forum Skins - Include MX style, white, gray, teal, blue green, blue MXtabs and bright blue. Many threads have been made to see what has what skin. CJS once made a thread thinking the MX style was a new type of hack of some sort since he did know it became a new skin

Gimmick - An account that mimics that of a celebrity, member, or person. Usually mocking this person and typically spams the forums. Is a bannable offense.

ghey: Alternate spelling of 'gay'

Goatse: A very disturbing video/picture of a man stretching his anus to mamoth proportion. This very tool was used in couple of spam attacks against the guitar forum as well as the pit.

GTFO - Get the fuck out. Used alone or in conjunction with STFU and directed either jokingly towards friendly users or seriously towards stupid users in any given thread.

Hijack - Usually posted in red and posted repeatedly is a thread to derail it. Coined in the red by Humor99

Hit him with a rake - A phrase commonly used by people trying to be funny. It all started with a thread started by Blockhead where he hit his father with a rake in an argument, in which his dad called him a "jew". It was never got as big as 'Put it in his butt' but there's still people that try to be witty and use it.

Humor99 - Popular member on mx. Notorious for starting the "/me starts a thread" thread which reached a thousand replies in a few hours. Also runs the "Top 100 Mxers competition". (See "top 100 mxers competition")

ITT: - Means "IN THIS THREAD." Used as to not clutter up the thread title.

IMXRA - Infamous gang of Irish members on MX started by Eccles.

IRL - In Real Life. Often used as opposite of 'ITT'.

Ikikdababy - Longest tenured mod. Posts in bursts, spends most of his time in the Pit. The most blunt and tactless person ever.

Jeff Doucette: Owner of Tabcrawler. Stole all of mxtabs.net's drum tabs which were mostly tabbed by Jeremy (at the time of the stealing). Complete dick and a very cocky man.

Jeremy Ferwerda - The owner of Mxtabts.net, sputnikmusic.com, and musicianforums.com, as well as mx the administrator himself of http://www.musicianforums.com. He doesn't post much.

Joindate - The date a user joined, usually displayed under avatar.

Kithkin - Punk mod also supermod. Rarely posts.

L

lawl - Intentional mis-spelling of 'lol'. Usually sarcastic.

********** - a infamous picture of three old men having sex with each other. Usually used in spam attacks and is widely known throughout the internet.

Liberi Is A Sex God - Trend started by member on mx called Liberi. He started a script that would fool users into changing their usertitles to "Liberi Is A Sex God" Hundreds of users had the same usertitle saying "Liberi Is A Sex God' It eventually died down. However, theres still one or two members who still have that as their usertitle. And we laugh at them.

Litninfingers63 - Joined in August of '01 under the name "GimpKing" to join in a spam war from the site Tabcralwer (See: TC, Tabcrawler). Came back a few weeks later and started posting regularly only to be banned by Jarviss. Signed up under the name Litninfingers63 and started posting a lot. Became a well known member and quickly became a mod in the guitar forum and the pit. After that, he showed Jeremy (See: MX) how to set up mod groups on vbulletin. After that, Jeremy made him a supermod. He lasted a while and quickly became a "Nazi Mod" due to his no-nonsense type of modding. He was either a member that you love or hated. After getting bored with the site and weeks of drama involving other members (See: Zerokewl, Plexiglass) he asked Jeremy to demod him and he stopped posting. Later he came back and started posting under the name "Moniker". He still posts semi-regularly in MXD+P.

'LOD - A thread created and stickied to reduce pointless spam in the guitar forum. A mini-pit design just for the afformentioned forum. It is called "lod" because the mod that made the thread spelled "stronghold" as "stronglod" and ever since the regulars stuck with that name.

Lockdown Thread, the - During the MX lockdown (many thanks to I forget exactly who, was it plexi that time?) only a few small forums remained open as they had not been targeted. When users found these open forums lockdown threads were created. In Other Music one of particular girth was made which you could atually compete to get double posts because the post frequency was so high. In a matter of hours it passed 1,000 posts. When the forums reopened it was deleted.

Lord Dargon - he flamed every single noob relentlessly if they listened to anything besides extreme metal and even if that was the case, he might flame them anyway because they might be "poseurs". He created the Death To Poseurs avatar and crew.

Mike_Mushok_Guitar_God - One of the most notorious members of mx. Known for his nonsensical posts that were also a riot (as in, funny) because English wasn't exactly his....strong point. Heres an excerpt from one of his threads (I swear to God he made this thread)

Med57 - One of the favorite posters in the R&M forums. Always made great threads, featured artists, and just posts in general. He was modded on Sputnik in 2005. Many R&Mers are pushing for him to become an R&M mod.

Meh - Usually used to describe someone "sighing." For example - "Meh, today sucks." or "Meh, I want to die." Usualyl means hopelessness.

MidnightKitty: Kornish's girlfriend & Mod in the pit & Guitar forum. Left after being accused of letting her boyfriend use her account to mod

Moderaterock - first poster to reach 20k posts. Also has had a very long running series of poop avatars.

Moderator - A MX user with the powers to close, open, sticky and unsticky threads. Chosen by MX and/or DBJ. They serve until they become inactive, violate the rules enough to be demodded and possibly banned, or voluntarily step down. See: Supermod, Demodding

Mx - It has two meanings, one is the name of the administrator of this website--mx. The second meaning is the name that is used by most of the regulars here to refer to http://www.musicianforums.com in shorthand.

Mxican - A member of musicianforums. Coined by fattymattk.

MXer - A member of musicanforums.

Mx stalking - A thread series that challenged mxers to read eachothers posts and take notes on them for a week. Then make a post telling people all about whoever they stalked.

Musicianforums - This website. It has a board with nearly 80,000 members.

N

NachoChez - Mod, who modded Alt/Indi, Rock And Metal, and the Pit. (see alt/indie, The Pit, R & M). Was demodded after a long time of inactivity. It was at Nachos own request to be demodded.

Neoli - Infamous mxer that wanted to experiment with Anal Beads, and ended up with his asss swallowing the "bead". He made a thread about it and had to go to the doctor---he was essentially laughed out of mx.

Neon Flaming: A common occurance in early 2004 i believe of flaming done using size 7 letters and neon green colour. Pionered by me and Funkypyro.,, band wagoned by everyone else.

Ninja edit - An edit made by the poster immediately after he posts, usually causing anyone who quotes the original quote to quote something different than expected.

Noob - Derogatory term usually directed towards newer members who join MX and who aren't experienced enough or well known enough around the site.

NPC/no peros calentes - A mod for the Pit and Alt/Indie (see Pit, Alt Indie)

O

Oh shi - denotes an ironic statement, used to make fun of oneself or others. Originally on SA (see: SA)

Oh Snap - An mx catch phrase started by FifthAce in mid 2003, although it didn't become popular until Summer 03'. It eventually led to an Official Oh Snap day and Oh snap avatars. Cods, a remaining 02er, is practically the only one to still use this phrase.

Oh Snapkins! - napkins invented by the one and only cods (see: cods). They were regular napkins that had the slogon "Oh Snapkins!" We love you cods.

oic -The shortend version of Oh i see. As in to show to understand a certain situation or problem or have had something explained to you.

Owned - internet term which originated through multiplayer games on the pc. It means dominance over another player and is meant to be derogatory. The term has widely spread all over the internet through image macros and is used quite commonly in forums and internet communities.

Omnibus - Word to replace penis in the swear filter. Not changed by Zerokewl, contrary to popular belief.

Percussive Effect - Zerokewl once posted a recording of his guitar playing because of his big mouth at the time. After posting, there were tons of dead notes and it was played very, very, bad. AFter being called out about how bad it was, he said the dead notes were for "Percussive Effect" - No one believed that.

Pit; The - The general discussion forum of mx. Alot of flaming, trolling, spamming, and similar debaucles happen here. Alot of drama and breaking of friendships or mending of happens here as well. Its the glue that holds mx together and we Mxicans love it. Some mods have pushed for it to be deleted

Plexiglass - A former supermod. Was pretty decent. An entire fight began between him, Jeremy, and the other mods, so Jeremy demodded him and a couple others. This resulted in endless spam attacks against mx, which finally ended late last year.

Put it in her butt - Popular term used by members.Became so popular that it became a bannable offense in July 2005 to use it.

Politics;News;World Issues - A serious discussion forum. Was made to discuss world events in a more serious form than the Pit.

Punkerdrummer - loud, angry mx poster from the early days who repeatedly got banned for flaming various MXers and was finally perm banned after saying some particularly nasty things to a mod. Hated Dboon, Trilemma, Litnin and most everyone else who she came in contact with.

Pwned - Pwned is the same as owned, except that it would be typed with a p because the letter "o" is next to the letter "p" on the keyboard. It has essentially the same meaning. Started by Clintilla.

PDWAB - Mods the punk forums, became a supermod. Had his name shortened in late '04.

Q

Quoted: usually posted when a user quotes another users mistakes in spelling or other synthatical errors; this before they have a chance to edit them out.

R

Ramsey - Palestinian MXer who came to America and then left again for Lebanon, while amassing over 23,000 posts. Argued with Trilemma about the Israel-Palestine situation. Is a virgin. See: Arab, Virgin

rawkandrole - Most flamed noob in the history of MX. Flames resulted in one of the funniest flame/spam threads ever that was eventually deleted.

refl - A variation of "rofl" but it has became so overused that its similar to "lol" in the sense that its used so much its lost its meaning. The "e" instead of the "o" in "refl" used to mean that its the "hxc" way of saying "rofl." It was coined by popular mxers on this website, Han (IHaveRickets) being one of them.

Reputation Points/rep - Points awarded to members by other members or moderators for contribution sufficiently to the forums - helping people out etc. It was recently disabled by the administrators because of 'rep whoring' and inappropriate repping, although people are repping more frequently now.

Rock And Metal Forum - Forum thats part of Mx, members discuss Rock and Metal.

Rofl - It means "Rolling on the Floor, Laughing." Used in place of "lol" to express hilarity in a certain situation.

Sam'd - The act of being a victim of someone complaining and/or talking of themselves in massive amounts.

Scott Herren - After the Zerokewl fiasco (See: Percussive Effect), Scott Herren posted "The kewl factor of that recording was zero.". After posting that, FifthAce and Spiral blew it highly out of proportion. Creating thread after thread after thread about Scott. Some of the threads included things like: "Scott Herren once sold his soul to the Devil, only to wait until the Devil turned his back so he could kick him in the back of the head and take his soul back. Take that Devil!"

Search Function - Used to find posts or threads made in the past. Very annoying at times since normally it can't search words under 5 character because they are "too common"

Sexican - Term coined by Bagboy, combines sex with mexican to create a new species (bagboy).

Sitay sip****? - An undecipherable mispelling typed out by an unknown n00b mxer in early '04 in the Mx Chatroom. He had discovered the mx chatroom somehow and was getting flamed by older users, and while getting pissed off, he coughed up this phrase.

Site Forum - Forum on mx where most complaints about the rest of the forum goes. Complaints are generally addressed by mods.

"So this guy was ****ing me in the ***, so I turned around and he grabbed my balls. What a fag..." - Old MX joke that was often said from time to time, but thankfully died down before it became lame

Sociallyimpared- If my mind serves correct, he trashed the Pit once with what I believe was animal photographsographic images or something, I wasn't there, but I heard about it. He did other stuff I don't quite remember. He's very disliked from what I know and he used to have a username that started with an A.

Sonorken - Mod for R & M. Was extremely hated in the Pit, especially after suggesting to delete the entire Pit to the mod community. Stayed out of the Pit after that, became well liked and respected in R & M. (Also See: Pit;the)

Soprano photographsos - Infamous gang of Italians on MX started by Nacho.

spam - Spam refers to a post with no significance to the thread itself. Also see canned meats.

SputnikMusic - Album reviews website twinned with MX

Squirrelroll - A dance move by Fatpete that got owned by the swear filter. (see squirrelroll)

stevetheleave- A n00b who was flamed jokingly for having bad grammar, and took it seriously, so he yelled and cursed at everyone and shocked the living hell out of many members of the Pit, and was finally drove to the point of stupidity and posted his password to MX and had his account taken. A few months later, someone made a sequel account stevetheleave2 and posted idiotically around the Pit. Whether it was a gimmick account or stevetheleave himself, noone knows. He later joined MX again in Sept. 04 and made an article on slapping, which got low ratings, and caused himself to get into another frenzy. He is a stupid user, and one of the top most hated members of MX, if such a list does exist.

STFU - Term commonly used on the internet. Means "Shut the **** up." Used by plenty of members on MX. (See: lol, lmao, rofl, etc)

Strum - Mod for the Pit, He was modded in '05. Previously known as Sir_Strumalot_the_3rd.

SubtleDagger - Supermod on mx. Started out as regular in Pit and Lyrics. (See: The Pit ; Lyrics forum) Became lyrics mod, eventually a supermod. Resigned from the position in '05 but came back later.

SubtleFagger - This was a term coined by some friends of SubtleDagger I believe during an Aim chat. It didn't quite catch on but it is used from time to time to insult Subtle Dagger, but usually wasn't/isn't that funny. (See: SubtleDagger)

Sue Johanson - See Volumnius Flush.

Supermod - A user with the powers of moderators and additional powers to ban users and mod forums they aren't listed as local mods at.

Superpeer - Supermod on website. Started out as R & M regular (See: R & M), eventually got modded and finally supermodded.

SUPERTREEYO - A group of 3 MXers with secret identities that with their powers combined can preform acts of bravery that none on MX has ever seen. They can save a baby thread from a flight of stairs. They can cast down an evil noob with a twitch of their collective eyebrows and they make great sandwitches.

T

Tabcrawler - Rival Tab site in which was very popular in the year '01. They enjoyed having spam wars with MX for whatever reason. Very few people post there now and the owner, Jeff (See: Jeff Doucette) does not have a popular site any longer.

The End Forums - Forums started by a member from mx, Useless Hope. Wasn't very popular until about late '04, when several members left mx because it had become crap. Mx became all good again, and most users returned except for some who remained and liked it more at The End. Is a pretty popular board at the moment.

The Trooper - Also known as "Apio Escobar", which later turned out to be a fake name. His real name was Noel. He posted heavily in the summer of 01 and early 02. He is known as a spammer, but most of his posts were on topic. He just posted a lot during the time he was on. He was also the first member to break 10,000 posts.

Tiger - Creator of the orginal Forced Listening thread and possibly the most arrogant mxer to graze these forums.

tl;dr - A term coined on Something Awful forums which the members brought over here. It means "Too Long; Didn't read" and was usually put right after a a lenghty post meaning that the post was too long, and the member who posted it didn't read it. it too became a bannable offense when Sir Strumalot was modded. He got sick of it and banned every member that attempted to use it.

Top 100 Mxers - Contest run by Humor99. Has been done two times in whole. Winner of both contests was Administrator Double Bass Jim (See: DBJ)

Trend links - Links posted by users that contain hidden scripts that manipulate the users browser to perform such actions as changing their user title, creating a thread, editing their profile and more without the users permission. The trend link scripts were originally created by the users 'plexiglass' and 'Liberi', although later on were used by other users.

Trilemma - See: Zerokewl, Percussive Effect

Troll / to troll - One who posts with the intentions of simply starting arguements and insulting other users. The act of posting as a troll

******* - Infamous picture which due to spamming attacks using it has caused mx to be locked for a few days

Vallely - Infamous for getting drunk and posting the same line of swearing over and over again in many different threads. Eventually leading to him getting banned. He came back in '04 as vallely2004

Volumnius Flush - A Texan maniac who denies the existance of dinosaurs, suggesting that perhaps "Satan put the skeletons there to fool us". He also claims that clothing is a sin and has supplied the forums with lots of fun, albeit fun that he didn't intend to invoke.

fattymattk- Arguably the most well-known and well-liked Mxer of all time. He was the first real post whore in mx history. Between all his accounts, he probably had 20,000 posts...in 2003. His stated goal was to get three accounts on the first page of the members list. He never reached that goal.
He was responsible for the fabled MX Episodes in which he coined the term MXican. Also famous for travelling from his home in Canada to an American Mxer's home (Clintillia) where he proceeded to stay for a few days, without her parents' knowledge. He stayed in the blazing hot attic.
Despite having left some time ago, his legacy is still felt in every favorite MXer thread to date because he was probably the funniest, most creative, entertaining person to ever post on these forums.

The MX Trend: A spam attack on the forums, one person created a link to a website where, if you clicked it, your account would make the same thread with the same link. The first few accurances of this link was a bannable offense, but soon after the link began to circulate more and more, the link was just asked to be edited out of posts or edited out by mods themselves.

Give it the definition

This was a term coined by some friends of SubtleDagger I believe during an Aim chat. It didn't quite catch on but it is used from time to time to insult Subtle Dagger, but usually wasn't/isn't that funny. (See: SubtleDagger)

Add "STFU"

Term commonly used on the internet. Means "Shut the fuck up." Used by plenty of members on MX. (See: lol, lmao, rofl, etc)

Add: Sonarken - Mod for R & M. Was extremely hated in the Pit, especially after suggesting to delete the entire Pit to the mod community. Stayed out of the Pit after that, became well liked and respected in R & M. (Also See: Pit;the)

Add: Virgin - Popular term coined by Ramsey. Ramsey used it jokingly against himself, since he had never gotten laid. Members eventually caught on and it became a common phrase to call Ramsey a virgin as an insult or just being buddy buddy. They also call him Arabic degatory terms because he is Arabic. Add: Zakath - Infamous member that flamed the hell out of any member that he came across, regardless of liking that member. Is known to hate homosexuals with a passion, and is also known to brag about his motorcycle and Halo 2 skills. Generally disliked as a person but liked because of his humor.

Add: The End Forums - Forums started by a member from mx, Useless Hope. Wasn't very popular until about late '04, when several members left mx because it had become crap. Mx became all good again, and most users returned except for some who remained and liked it more at The End. Is a pretty popular board at the moment.

Add: Site Forum - Forum on mx where most complaints about the rest of the forum goes. Complaints are generally addressed by mods.

At one point, he tracked down Madey's (madeyadams) phone number through her IM away message and called her. He claimed to have had a nice chat for 20 minutes with her. When she got on she explained that he had been inappropriate and the conversation was not 20 minutes long. He was then ostrasized and flamed until he left MX. It was one of the best examples of Mod condoned flaming I've ever seen. Ask madeyadams, Bobo, Jom or any other R&M community members for details.

As a second R&M legend user - Lord Dargon - he flamed every single noob relentlessly if they listened to anything besides extreme metal and even if that was the case, he might flame them anyway because they might be "poseurs". He created the Death To Poseurs avatar and crew.

AIM MX Chat - Chat room on AIM where MXer's chat together outside the forums. Entry can only be gained when figuring out the name of the chat or being invited.

Caps Filter - Filter provided to keep away stupid posts with all caps. It's effects can be seen when every word's first letter in a sentence is capatalized.

Bumping - The act of posting in a thread simply to get it to the top of the first page so others may view it once more. Bumping of threads that are over a few weeks old is discouraged unless new information that is worthwhile will be posted.

CemetaryGates9 Possibly the only user to not have a post outside the Rock & Metal community thread. He was not a popular member due to fantasising about raping/murdering someone and stating several times that dreaming about these things is normal. This was all from a 13 year old. Many people thought he was a gimmick account and that it was just someone playing a joke. One day CG went into the AIM profile of Madeyadams and retrieved her phone number from it. He then rang her and they spoke on the phone. After the phone call Madey instantly communicated a mod about it and CemetaryGates got a 10 day ban. For some reason after his ban, Cemetary Gates never returned to MX but many believe he has made a new account and is trying to have a fresh start.

Ahem.... GTFO - Get the fuck out. Used alone or in conjunction with STFU and directed either jokingly towards friendly users or seriously towards stupid users in any given thread.

Faust - Faked her suicide when Eric IMed her and she pretended to be her sister. She said that she had commited suicide. Eric went on MX and made a thread about it. She was discovered as having lied when someone saw her log on to IM. Eventually she came back to MX before leaving for good.

Lockdown Thread, the - During the MX lockdown (many thanks to I forget exactly who, was it plexi that time?) only a few small forums remained open as they had not been targeted. When users found these open forums lockdown threads were created. In Other Music one of particular girth was made which you could atually compete to get double posts because the post frequency was so high. In a matter of hours it passed 1,000 posts. When the forums reopened it was deleted.

Mx stalking - A thread series that challenged mxers to read eachothers posts and take notes on them for a week. Then make a post telling people all about whoever they stalked. The first ever mx stalker was RNR and he stalked Captain Jack Sparrow. The original thread sparked enthusiasm among mxers but that enthusiasm died out after RNR whored the thread idea too much, right around the 4th or 5th thread of mx stalking.

One of two decent things that i've done on mx.

I think you should go through the dictionary because I just read it and there's a lot of broken tags and spelling/grammar errors.

Fixed it. It's a bit strange though. I had entered in a tag to get passed the swear filter yesterday, and it worked fine, but after you posted this, it screwed up and bolded that huge section. :-/ Oh well. I fixed it. For now anyway. Unless it's screws up again.

Karate Monks: the first gang of MX, dates back to about june/july of 2001. Originally founded by Mardyfastlearner (me, Mardy). Contained several members, but it went out of hand and ended up to only contain core members, of which many, or all except me are gone.
