Okay, I'm starting school in like a week and I want to get a little healthier and lose some weight before then. Throughout the year, I'm going to really start focusing on a six-pack, but that will take a while. So, what is the best I can do this week? I slacked off for the whole summer, and now I'm regretting it.

I'll eat healthier, and more moderately. I'll have smaller portions for dinner. I will have a lot of snacks, but it will all be fruit. I'll have a small bowl of Great Grains cereal in the morning. I'll drink only water(I've been doing this for over a year anyways, but its worked), and lots of it.

As for exercising, I'm really looking to lose weight. So, I'll be using a treadmill for some cardio work. How much should I run daily? I may also do a little weight lifting to.

What is the most weight loss I should be able to achieve, and stay healthy? What else can I do to see a difference in this time? I know a week is a very short time, but I'd like to at least try. I'm 14, and about 5'2". I weigh about 138 pounds, and would like to get rid of a lot of fat.
Thanks :thumb:

How you are short. You will probably have another growth spurt and lean out. It usually happens. But if you don't want to count on that, i'd say 20-30 minutes of solid cardio maybe twice a day to start of with is good.

man forget about the six pack at your age. no offense man but you're a lil shrimp and if you start restricting your food intake and all that **** you might not grow as much. just eat like a mother****er and hit the weights to bulk up.

and also you won't see any changes in a week. it usually takes at least 6 weeks for people to start complimenting you.

I know eh, 14? How about just be a kid instead. It's good to be in shape, obviously. But don't over do it.

Yeah, I'm just going to focus on losing some weight for now. I'll do a little weight lifting, but I'll focus more on running.

You're 5'2 and 14 years old. You're not even finished growing. You're going to hit a major growth spurt soon times. You might just grow out of that little chub you think you have.

Do yourself a favor and read EVERYTHING under the fitness section of my post:

I started focusing on weight lifting when I was 13; I was also 6'4" at the time. So take it easy, but don't NOT do it... it is beautiful you are interested in this, it is a really good thing.

Thanks. I just bookmarked it. I will start working out, lightly, because everybody is right about the growth spurt. Still, I'll start jogging, and maybe start doing HIIT's to get me in better shape. Fat or not, I suck at running. I need to get my endurance up.

Thanks everyone.

I am 15, 5'8, 120 pounds. Drink water and run. But yeah, you will grow some more, so don't over work it. Wait until you are about 16 to start going heavy on the lifting. I would work out, but I'm the laziest person I know. Yet I eat unhealthy. I don't understand why I don't gain weight, not that I want to, I am just curious why I don't. Anyone know?

Control diet, do HIIT, or other cardio.

Just watch what you eat, do some running. You won't see squat in a week. Just work on having fun, I don't see why you would want to do weights at such a young age. Wait a year. Just my opinion.

Wait for a major growth spurt. It'll come pretty soon.

I'm 14, 5'9", and I weigh 155 pounds. I'm almost done growing, or at least I hope. People obviously grow differently, and unless you have really late growth patterns, you should be a few inches taller soon.

5'8 and 120 isn't a shrimp. I have a friend who is 5'11 and 120lbs. Now that's, a shrimp.

Metabolism. Your body burns of what ever you eat. It also burns off your muscle resulting in a low weight.

Why do you want to stop growing?

I honestly wouldn't want to be over 6 feet tall.

Why not, I think I'd like to be more than average. I'm 5'10 now, and I think that's the average height.
