try getting a teacher, i find having one helped a whole load more than learning by myself

I agree, piano is NOT the instrument to learn by yourself.

By God how much would shipping cost on that?

Hehe, maybe you can help me out...

Exactly what does your teacher teach you when you kinda progress past making silly little errors?

I had problems with my teachers, i was workign towards grade 8. And he would say my playing is fine, but i doubt i would have passed my exam. I took my AS practical exam with those pieces and I'm pretty sure I got like a D which is not good.

So what is your teacher supposed to tell you at that point? Mine would just tell me to just carry on with my good work. So i was basically teaching myself, but I was nowhere near the standard required.

/I know this probably doesn't make too much sense but i feel you could probably get the gist.

They don't really teach you after that, they assist you with new songs and help you progress into more difficult pieces.

mmm i agree. id think it would be a priority to have one to start with and after you get really good, etc with the exams, i think they should be critical... its not good if you get no opinion.

As someone who plays piano, I can tell you that teachers help beyond belief. They teach you how to use the pedals, and hand placement and posture is EVERYTHING to a piano player. You need to learn how to be a graceful piano player, and that only comes from a person, it can't come from a book, vide, or website.

You absolutely MUST have a teacher. Both me and my little brother (started piano a couple years ago) have teachers, and they are SO INCREDIBLY HELPFUL. Up until grade 8 or so... your teacher WILL be a thousand times better than you, and at that point most teachers a lot better than you would cost a fair bit.

Like I say to everyone who wants to learn piano... if you're serious, get a goddamned teacher.
