I just got The Suffering, but what program do I need to open or install it? It's only like 200 megs so I think it's zipped or something but I'm pretty sure I have winzip and it's not showing up to use for that file..

You might need WinRar, just search for it on Google.

I have winRAR, it won't let me extract anything.

Post the file extension. Odds are it is an iso file, if so download the program Daemon Tools.
Zakath
07-16-2005, 07:38 PM
how am I supposed to do that..
Is it like, The Suffering.zip? Or .iso? Or what?

Right click -> Properties. It should say the extension.

It doesn't.

It's probably a type of .iso file. You need to use a program to burn it onto a disk. Alcohol 120% is great, but it isn't free.

Nah you don't need to burn it on a disc. Download Daemon Tools, when you get that I'll type up a quick walkthrough for you. This is all asuming it is an iso file.

Ok I'm all set with Daemon Tools 3.47.

IsoBuster can extract almost any type of file. If you just want to run the image (it's most likely .iso, .bin, etc.) then use daemon tools and run a virtual drive and load the image.

Ok,
-right click on the tray icon go to emulation and click all options on
-right click again and go to virtual cd/dvd-rom, go to set number of devices and click 1 drive
-after it is done loading go back into the virtual cd/dvd-rom and go to "Device 0: [F]no media "
-then click 'mount image'
-browse till you find the folder with the file that you downloaded and click on the file
This will open it as if you actually owned the cd/dvd and the autoplay thing comes up. You'll have to use this method if you download any bigger/recent games. I use it all the time.
If there is no file listed then that means that the file is not an iso file and needs some other way of opening (usually a form of zip).
If you find out the extension it would be easier to know what to do.

No good, it doesn't show up. The file size is only like 257 mb while the actual game size is around 1.9 gigs I think.. so I guess I need to try to unzip it somehow.

I'm thinking it's a bad torrent, because I could never imagine something being compressed that much.
Are you sure you completed the download?

To see what type of file it is, open up Windows Explorer and then go to Tools>Folder Options. Click the View tab and uncheck the selection which says "Hide extensions for known file types". The file you downloaded should have an extension now.

nah it should be fine. there was a torrent of C&C Generals for 180mb. it's final install file size was almost 2gb. they are legit, they just use uharc. (i think that's the name of the program)
get Isobuster (search google) and that has plenty of file extensions available to use. open the file up in Isobuster, and it should let you see what files there are in it, then just highlight all the files and right click and Extract Objects to a folder.

A partially downloaded torrent file will still list the extention.
Without the file extention I cannot help you. Turn "display file extentions" on your computer on (there is no reason they shouldn't be on anyway.
What did you download. Where did you download it from. Link to the page that you got the torrent from. What is the exact file name. Do as many of those as you can and I or someone else can help you.
Right now though, noone can really help you.

He gets games off the internet for free. If he knows how to do that, he can get A120 the same way.

I think the torrent must be incomplete or just ****ed up because it doesn't have an extension.

Some files just don't have extensions, which means it must be used for something else. The extension must have been deleted before it was put up for seeding.
I don't know how to help that, the best advice I can say is to get it again from another torrent

Oh yeah, that deffinently doesn't seem finished.
On a side note, why do you still have Kazaa Lite++?

Because all my songs are already on it and organized so why delete it?
and the file is complete, at least as complete as it's supposed to be. It's the exact same file size as it says it should be on the torrent site.

Where's a good PS2 emulator? I'm downloading Kaido Battle 2 and I don't want it to sit on my hard drive, unmolested. ;)

When I try to download a torrent (meaning opening it w/ BitLord), it takes hours to get any part of the file actually loaded...the same has happened with the original bit torrent program.

Wow, it takes me around 2 seconds.

It depends on the size of the torrent. A 16 gig torrent I downloaded once too minutes to initialize and allocate (and much longer to check) when I would load it on my school computer.

Downloading Battlefield 2 would be umb, it's an online game. unless you enjoy playing with bots. I use isohunt.com for finding my torrents and ABC for the actual program.

Actually if anyone does download BF2, let me know if it's worth downloading for only bots and if it runs any better than the demo.

I own the game and only play with bots, and I love it. Also, the demo had graphical problems for me, but the full version works great. Hope that helps.

The demo runs terribly on my PC and I have a top of the line one. I kind of want to buy the game, but no way I'm putting down 50 for it.
