Ok, my band is poor so we have to resort to using a video camera to record. so I finally got a job and I’m looking to get some better recording gear. i was leaning toward a fostex FV80EX with a cd burning and getting a condenser mic. Is this a good 8 track or is there better for the price. Oh...do i need more stuff, like more than just one mic, or maybe a mixer?

Please help, Austin

Another 8 track thread! You'll need more than 1 mic if you want to record more than 1 thing at the same time. Never heard of the EX version but the FV80 is meant to be excellent. I can't say I have any experience with it however.

dont you just record everything with one mic...like place it in a place everything is sorta even for the scratch track then record everything sepret?

If I were gonna do it like that, I'd get two mics for both inputs on the eighttrack (I am assuming there are two) that way more sound will be picked up.

If you really wanted to do it that way I'd get a good stereo pair. But that normally only works for acoustic instruments like an orchestra.
