I'm way far behind in video gaming (I sort of stopped playing games for several years) but I just recently got a copy of Devil May Cry 1, and it's absolutely amazing. Anyone else a fan of this series? How are the sequels?

DMC1 is one of my all-time favorites. :D

DMC2 was WAY too easy and linear, and wasn't nearly as fun as the first.

DMC3 is good so far. Awesome gameplay and a new assortment of abilites, though this game is way too frickin' hard. :angry:

I've never played the first game, but...

DMC2 sucked the digital weiner. DMC3 is AMAZING. I went out on a limb and bought - I wasn't disappointed. Excellent gameplay, tons of upgradable and purchasable abilities, and plenty of weapons to keep things interesting.

The game is not nearly as hard as people make it out to be. Once I beat Virgil's third form I've beaten the game.

The first is still the best.

3rd is second best.

2nd is abysmal...

The first I would call a classic.

It just takes a little time. The learning curve of that game is more of a vertical dropoff than a curve. It took me over two days to beat the Hell Vanguard in mission 2, beat once I figured it out I was able to beat 2-3 missions a day provided I had the motivation.

But Nevan on the other hand - she takes some practice and a precise method.

Nevan sucked.

The first was definitely awesome, but I have to say that I think the third is better. I love the weapon system. Agni & Rudri are the best swords ever!

Don't even bother playing the second DMC.

DMC 3 owned, I beat the game on every difficulty like 4 times, fighting Arkham was ****ed up, Lady was easy as hell to beat, and hell looked so cool, the graphics owned on that level

I'm still on level 18.. I only half tried it once then had to stop playing.. what are level 19 and 20 like.

19: Dante is dropped into some sort of dimension where he has to fight some demons. After he kills them, he is dropped into a room full of demons, but he has to break mirrors to kill them. He is then dropped into a large room where he has to kill demons before an hourglass' time is up. He then picks up an item, goes all the way back to the mirror room, places the object, and is dropped in some new dimension. A fight with a mutated Arkham ensues. Vergil assists you halfway through the battle.

20: The final battle with Vergil. No actual running around fighting and looking for things. He's fast as hell. I still have yet to beat this one.

Vergil helps you out? Hmm I might have to play that.

And I thought that fight with the shadow guy was pretty cool, even though it was really easy. The guy that you got the Doppelganger style from.

Yeah. Much easier than Geryon (I think that's what it was - the large horse-drawn cart with Quicksilver) and also cooler. I like the Quicksilver style better, though.

I just wish they would've made the secret styles into full ones like the strting four. Having Quicksilver and Doppelganger with multiple levels and techniques would've been sweet.

Man. Virgil. Virgil as in Dante's brother (I'm assuming, based on the pendant from DMC1 that says "Dante & Virgil that's from your dad)? I haven't played DMC3 yet. But I'm going to get it soon as I have enough money.

They are all good but was disappointed by the first one because when it comes to hack and slash games, I don't like solving puzzles. Third one was mostly hack and slash. Also, for those who thinks that they have played all Devil May Cry series, think again. There is another game made by same developers called Chaos Legion. Very similar to DMC so check it out. God of War is not made by them but another great hack and slash game.

Yea I kinda got bored with those two styles after one level. Gunslinger is the best.. it took a while to get up to level 3 though. :(

I actually got Gunslinger and Swordmaster up to level 3 pretty quickly. In the later levels, the bosses give shitloads of experience. Gunslinger is just so ****ing cool, but Swordmaster is easily the most useful.

This game is 2 player, just use the Doppelganger style and use the infinite devil trigger costume = 2 player, same with level 19 when Vergil helps you, that's also 2 player

Level 19 is so cool when both Vergil and Dante kick ***

The last level was hard, I can now beat it without getting hit once using Royal Guard style which is the best style in the game.

I love 1 and 2. I prefer 2 though. I still have to check out the third.

You prefer the second? I really think you're the only person alive who feels that way.

I like all the styles. Royal Guard is fun since it can do ridiculous amounts of damage, but it would've been even better if they had expanded it more and given it more than 5 moves. Same with Trickster. Actually, I think every style should've had 25 moves like Swordmaster.

i recently got devil may cry 1, i had it when i first got a PS2 but i got a major craving so i got it again!, the second one was ok but the first kicked its ***, my friend has the third and he says its really good.

The DMC series is probably one of the greatest. DMC3 is by far the greatest.

My friend said that if you beat the game on dante must die and beat all the secret mission(there are 12) then you get him as a playable character.

I know if you beat it on DMD mode, you get Super Dante mode, which allows you to play the entire game in nonstop devil trigger mode. Maybe this is what your friend was referring to? I've never heard anything about actually playing as Sparda.

I've never heard of that. I had always heard that beating the game on DMD unlocked Heaven or Hell mode, which is one hit kill for all enemies, including bosses and Dante.

the first game i bought for ps2 was devil may cry 1 and i must have completed it about 17 times
devil may cry 2 i still enjoyed even though it wasnt as good
devil may cry 3 is awesome but im not sure i would go so far as to say its the best

Which one is that for? I'm pretty sure Super Dante mode is in DMC1. But, that's just what I've been told. I haven't beaten the game on Dante Must Die mode, so I wouldn't know.
