Holy cow I love this band. Probably the only alt/indie band I like but from what I know they've got a high rep in the alt/indie world. I figure you all know them but for those of you who don't I'll give you the brief description.

Amazing alternative band from Oklahoma City the Flaming Lips consist of Wayne Coyle, Mark Coyle, Richard English and Michael Ivins. Basically they're a big mix between acoustic guitar and electronica stuff. I'm not even really sure what's going on most of the time, I'm just enjoying myself too much to really listen to what the band is playing. Short story short, they're amazing and I love them.

Yoshimi was a great recording period for them. Ego Tripping is still my favorite song they've done. It has been since I first heard it when the album came out. I'm really excited to hear the new album.

Yoshimi is indeed an awesome album from an awesome band. And I giggle to myself whenver I hear Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots pt. 2. It's just so ridiculous!

I got Clouds Taste Metallic recently, so I'm starting to get into that, though I still love The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi. This Here Giraffe rocks my world.

I would love to see them live, I hope they tour in the UK with the new album. That'd be awesome.

I saw them live when they were touring with Beck. The Flaming Lips opening for Beck is one of the greatest things the music industry has ever produced. Such a great show, one of the happiest experiences of my life.

The Lip's are indeed a great band. I've got Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and Transmissions from the Sattelite Heart, they're both two awsome albums. The Yoshimi album is a mixture of acoustic guitar and electronica (as mentioned by ThievesandBastards) while Transmissions is a bit more poppier rock with a few traces of electronica.

I recently got "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots" and... it's undescribably beautiful, happy and sometimes hysterical. I love In The Morning of Magicians by a gigantic heart.

They went from pretty fun and experimental to a psychedelic riot between "she don't use jelly" and now. I like it all.

yeah, i love the flaming lips. i have soft bulletin and yoshimi. their experimentation is great. with some bands, it seems like they churn out the same music on each album but with the lips everything is new and there are always so many layers to the music that make successive listenings that much better.

I saw The Flaming Lips on Austin City Limits one night at like 1 am on PBS. and it was awsome, because the whole setup looked like some happy sunny LSD trip. And I thought it was funny they covered War Pigs by Black Sabbath and they did "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" with the guitarist dad playing saxaphone.

Their best albums are the one's they made in the 80's. I like Oh My Gawd...The Flaming Lips, Hit to Death in the Future Head and Finally, the Punk Rockers are Taking Acid the best. Yoshimi is a solid effort, but some of the tracks toward the middle of the album are just a bore (Are You a Hypnotist?). Zarieeka is very unique and is an incredible listen once you get it properly hooked up.

A brilliant line-up this year; even better than last year, in fact. It's not perfect, but Radiohead are already playing V Festival so we'll have to make do with Muse. Not that you can tell Yorke and Bellamy apart anyway...

They're playing near me in a month or so, i'd love to see them but it's sold out.

I love them, although i don't listen to them that much anymore. My favorite is probably Transmissions From the Sattelite Heart. They've helped me through some tough times in the past, since you can't listen to the Flips and not feel much happier afterwards.

The Soft Bulletin has better songs, but Yoshimi is a better album overall IMO. It's mood and tone is great, it gives me a futuristic/fun feeling when i listen to it. The beats are far better in Yoshimi (I'm a big Electronica fan) so Yoshimi is high in my list.

I strongly disagree. While it is a pain in the *** to get things set up, once you do the sound is excellent. Machine in India is ace and although a lot of songs are hit or miss it's still a strange and interesting listen. Plus I don't think it's really ment to be take seriously.
