hey, my bands actually starting to write decent material instead of just sitting around and eating each others food.......

hence we wanna start recording, just wondering what you guys thought of using a small digital 8 track such as theBoss BR-864 (http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/_support/om.cfm?iCncd=34&ln=EN&SearchBy=RcId&dst=P&iRcId=0000000241&dsp=1&iStcd=4) for recording a 5 piece band

Ive got an A level in music tech so using it's not a problem, its just we're on a budget and can really only afford something like that

cheers

That should be fine, as long as you have a mixer and mics and stuff, you'd prolly want to just record drums onto a stereo track so it doesnt use up all your tracks

It's okay, although not top. I've heard boss multitrackers are quite satisfying, so there you go.

Uses 128MB CompactFlash media

ugh. When you buy it, budget for a 1gig or so card aswell.

I recommend the Fostex VF-80

Even if you have to save a little longer, I have no complaints about it

It's awesome :thumb:

what're you talking about?

he's either confused and thinking i mean 8 track cassette, reffering to a 16 track, or simply working on the principle of more expensive, more numbers and more modern the better

No, so do I. I was just explaining the process by which an 8track is more than enough.

You know what i love about analogue things?

The way they work.
