Hey guys, i just bought myself a sony md condenser mic and it appears to be good so far. But my question is, would i be able to record my band playing or will it blow it, or if you have any tips on where to place it in the room. Cheers :thumb: :thumb:

Condenser lavalier clip-on mic? Those are excellent for speech but just not on for music...

I use my earphones as a microphone in my M.D. you don't get much bass, but you still get an impression of how we played.

I guess if you use a larger/better mic there would be more bass, my problem is that when I record band practice with a normal dynamic mic into my M.D the levels max out, and any loud noises aren't recorded as the recording cuts out,(I geuss there's a limiter in the m.d so you can't record too loud, I just don't know how to decreas the power of the signal from the mic)

DI boxes have attenuation, and usually there is a recording level setting on the MD recorder. If all else fails, record using the line-level input on the MD instead and this is many times less sensitive.

put the mic further awawy so it wont max out maybe even leave a door open and put it in the next room.
