I understand that there have been many posts like this, and all of them get directed to Merkaba's thread. However, after reading through all those links, I didn't find what I was looking for. If you can find the link that gives me the information I'm looking for, please direct me to it.

I was wondering, how do you get those "hard" screams without hurting your voice. By hard I mean Pantera, Shadow's Fall, Slipknot(ish). Things like that. Thank you.

What i wanna know is how Slayer's lead singer can do that for over 20 years without hurting his voice, and also could u describe what to practice to get those screams?

Those screams are exactly the screams that Merkaba describes.

All screams are the same

Keep that one in mind.

Vocally, I sound like I belong in a grindcore band. But that's personal preference. Just do exactly as Merkaba says, you'll figure out how to do the types of screams you want.

Plus, I can pull off a Phil Anselmo scream, they're rather basic, style wise.

Thanks Kosta. Theres a reason why all these same types of questions get directed to the same place because they are all talking about the same thing!

How do I sing like Sweaty Balls from the Sacks trio? How do I scream like Danny Devito in Jack me sideways? Your cords come together and block air...as the pressure builds up they vibrate as the air slips through, in hundreds of cycles of seconds, hundreds of small little puffs of air. Thats it. You can make Ay, EE, I, O, U, and Ah or combination thereof. Thats it. Everything else comes after that vowel has been made, and is a combination of throat, cheeks, teeth, tongue, etc. Therefore:

If you learn to isolate your cords from your throat and mouth you can therefore strengthen them instead of fatigue them, and then manipulate your throat seperately from your cords(i.e. isolated) and do just about whatever you want(within your range) safely. End of story.
