Singing Lessons

So our band needs a singer. we are writing out own songs on the instruments but we have no one to sing. we dont really want to get anyone else because we are all friends and want to keep it that way. anyway i am rythm guitarist so it would be easiest if i could sing but i can't! I would get singing lessons but i'm too poor and lazy.

could anyone that knows what they're talking about give me some tips on starting out and the do's and dont's please
