I think it's great. I like the one where they all get unplugged and it turns out it was a video game, that episode is great.

Craig Charles was the perfect choice to play Lister. Loved the TV series, loved the books.

As long as it's better than the Hitchhiker's Guide film. I was severely disappointed by that.

Didn't they all audition for different parts than the ones that they got?

It was pretty cool overall but not quite up to the standars as Father Ted, The Young Ones or Blackadder. Red Dwarf sometimes seemed like it was wallowing in it's own look-how-clever-and-ironic-we-are type vibe. I still laughed out loud every episode though.

Great show, one of the local channels here (in California) has been playing Red Dwarf and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (tv show) at midnight on Saturdays. It is an excellant show, I love it.

Love Red Dwarf. All the characters are just brilliant, especially Lister and The Cat and the hologram, crap, forgotten his name. :upset: I'm ashamed to not be able to remember that.

Yes!
I think I'm getting Alzheimers, I couldn't remember who fronted The Cure for three weeks not so long ago.
I like the books as well, the one where Lister becomes king of the cockroaches is great.

Yeah. Chris Barrie auditioned for Lister, Craig auditioned for The Cat. Danny auditioned for The Cat but he was about an hour late, Norman Lovett (who played Holly in series 1&2, then returned for 7&8) auditioned for Rimmer, and Robert Llewellyn didn't even audition until they drew up Kryten's return for Series 3.
I'm such a Red Dwarf geek. I love the show, but I think series 5&6 started to become a little too formulaic - always the same jokes about Kryten's head, the space corps directives, The Cat's nose etc... The weirdness of the situations they got into more than made up for it though. Gunmen Of The Apocalypse was my favourite episode ever.

With you on that one chap. I enjoyed all the episodes I have seen, which is most of them except series 5 I believe. And I have the BBC radio tapes, I love "Backwards." One of my favourites.
Which is the one where Rimmer goes crazy and he has that puppet and shoots everyone?

It's the one where he gets Hex Vision. I can't remember the name of it right now, but give me a second and I'll check.
