Im trying to write a love song/poem. It seems that the big thing is to use a great deal of some literary elements like forshadowing and imagry. Cant a song just be simple with minimul imagry and what not? Im new at this. Sorry if this is a newb post, but I just need some help.

Yes, it can be simple and free of the literary terms that sometimes ruin songs. Best thing that might help you, is if you just write down what you are feeling.... Sort it out after your thoughts are down

You can have songs that rhyme and still make them good, and you can have songs that dont rhmye and make them good.... It all depends on your choice of words and flow

think of someone you really, really like. (duh, that's why it's called a love song) and write what you think about them down. You have a paper with a bunch of rhymes on it, see if you can find any that relate to your situation. That's all you need to do. get a thesarus if you're trying to rhyme stuff. It's very difficult at first but really easy once you pass the first loop on a songwriting roller coaster. Have fun with it! Good Luck!

I totally agree with Popeye just write down exactly what you are feeling and then just mix and match the lines to form a song/poem.
