I voted Allen Iverson becuz he is one of the shortest players in the nba but he can still score 60 point games and lead the league in assists for most of the season

Ok, first: Vince Carter has no place on that list.

Second: I added the most glaring omissions.

I think there's about an eight way tie. I really can't decide. Jermaine O'Neal and Dirk are the only two up there that I don't think are tied.

I guess I'd go with Wade though. He has so much pure talent, and he's just going to get better.

If that's the case though, Stoudemire and James are equally as great.

I voted Lebron. I really think that even though he's only played 2 years, he is already the best player in the league. His closest competition would come from KG and D Wade.

ThePatient

Right now, I'd go with KG and AI. In a couple of seasons, I think James and Wade will have totally seperated themselves from the rest of the field.

Lebron's numbers back him up. Although Amare is pretty amazing, he isn't the best player in the league. I have to admit Allen Iverson is a great athlete, within his size.

I don't think he is overrated, if people are just saying he's the best player in the NBA today. In his second season, he posted 20 7 7, a terrific feat few players ever do.

Bottom line is, if I could begin my franchise today with any single player, it would be LeBron James.

Lebron is winning this poll, but he's by no means the best, hence he is overrated.

It's quite incredible that a high school kid can come to the NBA and give his team the best playoff run they've had in years, isn't it?

I don't think he's over-rated. His stats are great for any player, and he's just a kid.

Even though he averaged 27-7-7 last year, shows the kind of poise and maturity on the court that a 20 year old should not have, and is single-handedly turning the Cavs into a profitable franchise?

LeBron James. No question.

He's the youngest player in the poll. His numbers last year would be good for any player, much less a 20 year old. He has far more potential than anyone on the poll. Also, every other player on the poll had another player on there team that could support them. Unless you want to count Dru Gooden or Z, Lebron carried the Cavs on his back the whole season. Once they pick up, hopefully, Ray Allen or Michael Redd, LeBron will be able to play the point and he will only get better.

shaq is still the biggest difference maker in the league, and his personal stats dont always reflect that.

however he is getting old, and lebron will be the best within a year or two

Considering we are not judging the best team, not really. It just proves that no matter how good a player is, basketball is still a team sport. Even Jordan needed Scottie Pippen.

Not really.

It's not like it's baseball or something. One good player is enough to bring a team into the playoffs. Look at Allen Iverson, Michael Jordan's first two trips to the playoffs, Dominque Wilkins in '86, etc.

I don't think you understand just how bad the rest of the Cavs are. LeBron will be dribbling down court, and he might, at times, actually have to turn around and ask his team to follow him down the court. He completely lost confidence in them, which is why he was forced to take a 30' that would have gotten them in the playoffs.

Anectdotal evidence! sweet.

I don't think you understand how bad the rest of the teams I mentioned were.

When Nique won 50 games in '86 his second highest scoring teammate was Randy Whitman. Doc Rivers, who was hurt a lot that year, was his only teammate of any note whatsoever. And he actually managed to win a series against Laimbeer and Isiah with that mess.

Let's not fault LeBron for apparently playing in a more competitive Eastern Conference here.

i voted for t-mac. I guess im a little biased being from houston but ive seen most of his games and since he came to houston he has shown he is one of the best in the n.b.a. and still getting better. What he did in that game where they were down by 13 with somewhere around a min and a half left in the game was amazing. He did what everyone thought was impossible. 1/4 of the arena was gone at the 2 min mark, but he led the rockets to an amazing finish and proved all those fans who left early wrong.

P.s. Where is Carmello Anthony hes one of the best sf's in the game. He deserves some respect.

Going into next season, I can't see it. If you're talking about one season, then possibly. But would you honestly pick Jason Kidd for your PG if you're building a team for beyond merely next year?

If you classify Wade as a PG, I'd take him over anyone. If not, I still wouldn't want Kidd first. Same with Baron Davis. Give me Wade and if not Wade, Kirk Hinrich. If we're talking about one season, I'd actually take Nash ahead of any of 'em except Wade, but not long term. If I'm building a team for the long run, give me Hinrich over Kidd or Nash.
