Understanding In a Crash

In some time of growing frustration I decided I wanted to voice myself out to an intelligent forum. Only the yankees seem as if they are the one's behind the gun but which way is the gun facing? Possibly going to be heading towards what could be their worst season in a long time doesn't a reason always come? Many people say age, but a life lesson of money can't buy you everything is coming as a moral of a long story.
I don't see many out of the ordinary holes in the yankees batting line up, everyone goes on their slump but most do pull out. Maybe alot of underachivers this year, but still underachieving to these guys is average in most other team's books? Yeah their pitching has huge holes in it, but I believe the factor will now be the lovely holes in the starting rotation that hasn't been around before.
I'd have to say the Yankees relief pitchers have always been borderline horrible since the John Wetland and Mariano Rivera days. The starting pitcher is hugely flawed with age, and just total inconsistency.
This isn't about the Yankee's being bad though, what a recent move was tried to be made concerning Gary Sheffield was just unreal. A "what were they thinking" mishaps. Sheffield who has a .300 avg, 55 RBI's, .396 OBP, .502 SLG, and pretty much the only guy who's been a consistent hitter year round. For Mike Cameron? My god, how could this even be considered is almost laughable. Sure Sheffield is probably going out of his prime but atleast his prime didn't end 5 years ago. I don't even know why they'd want to, Mike Cameron isn't going to kiss his boo boo's considering he's constantly injuried. Sheffield has a better arm, is probably overall a better hitter in every catergory. Yeah Cameron had speed but that's pretty much a diminished fight. I'm very glad that Sheffield made a clear cut warning to other GM's and I'm surprised he didn't lash out at the Yankees. How could someone get stabbed in the back so bad for being a good ball player...

I heard about this today and really hate Gary now. He said he doesn't want to be traded and if he is traded to a team he does not want to be he is not going to be "happy" and you're not going to want him on your team. I think he is really being stupid about the situation seeing as you're making millions playing what you love despite the team you're playing for. Alot of people get traded to a team they might not want to but that doesn't mean you should be a baby and not try.

I completely agree. I cant even understand why the Yankees would consider that trade. I guess it would give them one of the better defensive centerfielders in the league to take over Bernie Williams' spot, but it just doesnt seem worth it. Mike Cameron will finish the year hovering around .240 with around 15 homers and 15 stolen bases.
How that compares to .300, at least 30 homers and 10 steals, I dont know.
I guess I could see wanting to get Tony Womack out of the outfield.

Sheffield does NOT have a better arm than Mike Cameron. Nor is he a better defender in any way. Cameron is a gold glove CF. Sheffield is a hitter.
The Yankees don't need Sheffield's big bat as badly as they need a real CF who can play defense. They are the most stacked offensive team in baseball in case you guys forgot... And they also don't need Sheffield's contract...
This trade isn't as outrageous as you guys are treating it.

He's always been a cry baby... You may recall he threw a fit right before he was traded to the Braves a couple years ago...

I don't think Cameron has a better arm, Cameron is definetly a better fielder, they do need Sheffield in the line-up, he is the only player who has been consistent AND good in a clutch situation, besides Posada, who dosen't have his power. About the contract, They should get rid of A-rod, if its even possible.

Sheff is very immature. The Yankees knew that going in, and were prepared that he might make comments like he did today. Remember that this is the same guy who once made throwing errors on purpose to get traded from Milwaukee. Hey, if I was stuck in Milwaukee, I'd do that too. Also, I have a friend who has friends in the organization and has been told that in no way were the Yankees considering this trade. The Mets have continually asked about it, and the Yankees have just laughed at them. It is a ridiculous and false rumor.

I don't see what's wrong with being unhappy over a trade...imagine for a second if you loved playing baseball for, say, the Giants. And you loved the city and the team and the fans, and your family loved the city, and then the Giants turn around and trade you to the Cincinatti Reds. Are you saying you wouldn't be pissed?

Absolutly, But I still wouldn't go out there on the field and pout about it and say how you wern't going to try his hardest.

The guy basically created a No-trade claus by using his mouth. I thought it was pure genius with his history. It makes me think back to the days of Albert Bell...

He has a right to complain about that trade. Like he said, he had the desire to be a Yankee. He is now a Yankee.
Why would you want to leave if that's really where you want to be? I don't blame him for complaining at all.
But if they do trade him, Cameron will help the team. Sheffield's loss would hurt, but getting a CF is needed. Williams looks 78 out there right now, and Womack is not a center fielder.
Losing his contract would also be a plus. They could sign some nice relief pitchers, and if they wanted to get a good, young starter, AJ Burnett will be a free agent.
The Yankees need to free up some salary space for some pitching and a CF if they want to get better. The team isn't going to be this bad all year, they'll pick it up eventually. This same situation occured with Atlanta last year.
they are all old rejects
A team who made it to the AL Championship last year is not a team of old rejects. Stop hating the Yankees for the sake of hating the Yankees. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm not a close-minded bastard, either.

They are one of the more talented teams in the league, despite being old. They just haven't put it all together yet.

I still think the Yanks will finish second in the AL East. Sorry O's fans.
They wont make the playoffs though.

I don't think they'll recover for the Wild Card, seeing as the Orioles are freaking madmen and the Sox are gettign Schilling back for the 2nd half of the season.

oops, I'm a little behind on the standings

I hope you're right, but tonight Johnson looks as bad as I have ever seen him. I could hit his slider right now. It looks like a ****ing balloon. Stottlemyre should be fired, he can **** up any pitcher. W00t, Matsui just hit a solo shot :D
Now we're only down 7-2 :(

Sheff better not get traded or I'll definitely be pissed. The current talks is between Gary Sheff to the Marlins for A.J. Burnett and Juan Encarnacion. I guess that trade is would be allright, but seriously the yankees would be doing an injustice.
And are the Marlin that dumb to know Sheffields history and with him voicing his anger...

I had a weird dream last night. Yankees traded Gary Sheff and Tony Womack for Larry Walker and Matt Morris. I was like wtf?

The Yankees' starting pitching will not hold up enough for another playoff run, and they don't have any pieces to move that would net good starting pitching.
