A foreign-language (to me) film, apparently about a prison in South America. I have the option of buying it rather cheaply, so I'm wondering if anyone's seen it, and if it's any good?

The few reviews that I looked at via google give it a pretty decent review.
Not amazing but by no means bad, so I would go for it.

If it turns out that you don't like it you could always sharpen the disc and use it as an instrument of destruction.
The fact that you wounded and/or killed someone, and did it with a movie you didn't like will be considered very stylish. Or at least so I'm told.

Isn't the carandiru that tiny amazonian fish that can swim up your urethra? If so, I'd say check it out.

edit: Nope, I was thinking Candiru. Might still be worth checking out, never seen it.
