Check it out here if you haven't already:

I saw it last night on the news and now again, it looks bloody fantastic. It's cool I think, that now technology has reached a stage where anything can be depicted realistically on screen. Think about some movies in the 80s and 90s, or sci-fi series, there were always bits where you could tell something was fake because the special effects weren't completely convincing. Nowdays the only thing that tells us that something is fake is that we know that no such thing exists... like griffins in Harry Potter or giant apes.

I never actually knew the full story behind King Kong, so this will be pretty neat.

ehhh I love JB, but it just seems odd him being in a action/scifi movie. But i would shell out the $10 or whatever to see it.

I saw the trailer for it last night and I agree it looks pretty sweet. I'm just not sure how well Jack Black can act a serious role, but the special effects are very convincing.

Yeah, King Kong fought a dinosaur in the original one. I don't really think the special effects look that realistic, you can tell its done with computers.

Adrian Brody.

And Naomi Watts.

And yeah, basically, on Skull Island in the King Kong story there's a whole lot of crazy creatures, and Kong whips the crap out of them.

If Kong tears the jaw off one of the dinos I'll be pleased.

I also expect Jack Black to start waving his hands around whenever he stops talking, or say "****." My mind won't let me take him seriously.

Yeah in the original on the island where King Kong lives are a myriad of creatures including dinosaurs.

King Kong is then taken off the island and taken to New York, where the famous scene on the Empire State Building occurs.

Looks a bit down-market for Peter Jackson, doesn't it? Although I suppose he can't go anyway but down-market after Lord Of The Rings.
I hope they do a good job, cause it could be absolutely terrible.

Err I'd hardly call a $110 million budget film down-market. :|

Each of the Lord Of The Rings films were about $90 million each. Also he has done a lot of down-market films before LOTR, with a few cult films.

Ya but, look at Jim Carrey, Robin Williams and Adam Sandler. Sometimes it's the audience that decides whether a regularily comedic actor can take on serious roles.

As for this movie though, dinosaurs....dinos...ya, double you tee eff? I was hoping they would hold off on the showing of King kong but, they didn't. I know I'm was going to see a giant ape but, now I don't really have a motivation to go to the movies and see what they did with him. Plus...dinosaurs...

Mesa thinks, dis movie improved by a booby scene.

What's wrong with having dinosaurs in it? The original did.

Once you see Kong tear a dinosaur's head in two, then you won't care about the logistics. Anyway, if you aren't complaining about a giant ape, don't complain that there's dinosaurs.

I didn't even know that there was going to be a remake.... I'm so out of the loop. It looks pretty good though, but it better have a lot of action in it. I think if it gets a PG-13 rating or less it might not be so good. I mean seriously, it's King Kong. He needs to tear **** up, and kill things.

Well, i believe at least 2 out of the 3 LOTR films were 14A, so who's to say Jackson will go super-kiddie friendly with this?

Is it just me, or do you really think a huge Gorilla could beat the sh'it out of a Dinosaur.

Cool film though, I'll go and see it.
