Does anyone have this game and speaks of how good/underrated it is?

I've never thought IGN would give an RPG a 9.9 but now I've seen it all...

In terms of advancements from the KOTOR series is Jade Empire an improvement/stays the same/or downgrades possibly?

Yeah the rumor is the storyline is very unique and as good as the KOTOR's... I can't wait to try it out.

I played it, beat it. I dont think the story is better than KOTOR, but the story is still very good, and in my opinion KOTOR is overall better. The fighting system in Jade Empire can get repetative after a while.

What's the party system like? Only one other person in combat at a time?

You can have one person with you at each time. They can either attack, or go into support mode (in which they medidate and enhance varying abilities. this depends on the character you have). I find attack mode better, since they can then draw enemies away from you.

Jade Empire is probably among my favorite RPG's of all time. I like it more than Kotor I and as much as Kotor II (yeah, i play American RPG's, not strictly FF. Deal with it). I'd call its overall story better than Kotor's (since that is what you're comparing it to), but it doesn't have as mind bending a plot twist. The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay smart (even though the seemingly innovative combat system can get boring at times) and the different ways to choose your fate many. This is must a play. One thing that really provoked me to getting the game is the fact someone in a magazine said that the game's ending for being a bad guy was one of the most notorious he had ever seen in a video game ever. I want to be SHOCKED!

:upset: But I'm usually a good guy.

Hey what's the weaponary like in the game anyway?

Oh it is. I almost wanted to cry or weep. I had to start a good guy game right after just to calm my nerves. It really is supremely, viciously, bile-ridden and cruel all-out evil.

Weaponry works with "styles." You have different fighting styles you can toggle, some of which are weapons.

The only thing that kind of alarms me is the length and the party system seems pretty upsetting since in KOTOR you could have this huge amount of team I thought.

Basically I'll probably buy this or the first KOTOR today. I'm still kind of leaning towards Jade Empire.

I would honestly reccomend Kotor, but that's because i'm a freakin Star Wars nerd. You get used to the system in Jade Empire quickly, and it really doesn't bother you too much. However, it is fairly short; it only took me 20 hours to beat the first time through. Whereas Kotor, every play through, takes about 20 - 30 hours.

As long as it's longer than Fable. Such a great game ruined by it's unearthly short story.

I got the limited edition of Jade Empire for $45 used.

It looks like someone didn't realize the game was an RPG, and hated RPG's... the disc looks like it was never touched.
