What, in your opinion, is the best and most useful martial art?

Personally, I think Krav Maga is the best, as it pretty much allows everyday applications with streetfighting, and takes into account the disarming of firearms. (For those of you that don't know, Krav Maga is the Israeli Armed Force's official martial art, and they teach it to US Counter-Terror units)

Yeah, the armed forces versions of the martial arts are always far more practical than trad ones. Special Forces groups always have the most effective techniques.

For the man-on-the-street the best styles are the grappling based arts such as jiu-justu and judo because unless you are a very skilled practitioner, i.e. black or above, or very big you won't finish a stoush with punches and kicks and 99% of the time you'll be grabbing each other and probably go to ground.
