looking thru a blackened window

you hide behind your prayers
you lock away the outside world
pretending it's not there
everyone is on their own
we all know life's not fair
cautiously you watch your moves
you're certain not to stray
looking down on those who choose
to live life day by day
a book of truth sits on the shelf
that you'd sooner burn than read

as ignorance succeeds
you sit atop your pedestal
with no thoughts of your own
oblivious to whats around
