Last.FM (http://www.last.fm) is a site that uses a plugin installed on your media player to track what you are listening to, then provides statistics about your listening habits. From these stats it generates charts, recommendation, finds groups you may be interested in, and people who like similar music to you.

Something's very wrong with my last fm. Yesterday I had about 13500-14000 songs played total, and today it's at 19119. I was listening to my Pipedown albums in winamp for probably less than an hour, and that should have added about 20-30 of their songs to my lists, but APPARENTLY, I listened to about 1500 Pipedown songs yesterday, because Pipedown now ranks as my top band with an out of nowhere 1705 plays, and they have the top seven song ranks ranging from 229-240. WHAT THE..?

It's always a good idea when you are having a problem to browse the forums on Last.FM

Hi everyone,

As reported in this thread (http://www.last.fm/forum/21713/_/61708) and elsewhere, some users yesterday experienced huge increases in their 'tracks played' totals and in the reported plays in their charts for particular tracks and artists.

We are aware of the problem, and have now patched the original issue that caused it. Audioscrobbler song submissions will be up and down for the rest of the day as we test these changes.

We are working on a tool for affected users to repair their profiles with, but it may take a day or two for this to be ready. In the meantime, keep listening -- this problem shouldn't occur again!

I will post information on how to fix affected profiles to this thread once we have a fix ready, so keep an eye on the forums. Apologies on behalf of the Last.fm team for the inconvenience, the problem was related to growing pains in some new hardware we've acquired (ironically in order to improve future performance and reliability!).
