I would go with Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes.

I've been giving Miss Murder more of a chance, and I have to admit, I like the lyrics (to a certain extent).
But on the whole, the song is just too bland and run-of-the-mill for me. It just doesn't seem like Afi...

Anybody watch AFI's performance on the Weenie Roast over webcam yesterday? It was tight, but they were cut short because Dave Grohl appeared as a special guest.
AFI's Set was:
Girl's Not Grey
The Leaving Song Part II
Days Of The Phoenix
Miss Murder
Rabbits Are Roadkill On Route 37
Silver And Cold
Dancing Through Sunday
Totalimmortal
I think that's pretty much the order. Also, anyone heard AFI's cover of INXS' 'Don't Change'? It was given out on a special Miss Murder promo disc when people at the listening parties preordered Decemberunderground. I really wanna hear it!

It's the opening song off their new album "Prelude 12/21" with Miss Murder behind it. The intro alright. It's got some nice "woah's" but I can't see it replacing Miseria Cantare at all. Or, if you download it with an old version of iTunes, there are other ways that don't require cd burning.

By far what I've heard of the album (eh just the single "Miss Murder", who am I fooling), They seem to be going back to the style in BSITS or TAOD, or some sort of strange mixture of old-style AFI with the darker side of Sing the sorrow. It's a good twist, though. I expected it to be different than the last one, anyways.
What really worries me is the rather disturbing blue shade Davey has in the video. I mean, black is gothic and all that... but blue!??!

the show last night was bloody amazing. nightmare of you were OK, nothing special... they couldn't really get the crowd going.
then dillinger escape plan came on and ****ing stole the show. they put on one of the best performances i have ever seen. they had strobe lights going in time with their music and it made all my senses come together. it was a very neat experience. the pit was very fun for them
afi came on after about a 30 minute wait. they were worth it though. they played a mixture of all their stuff, but mostly their stuff of december underground and sing the sorrow. davey acts very feminine on stage, but i think all around they put on a great performance. davey actually song an entire song standing on the crowd which i found cool.
overall it was an amazing show. i enjoyed afi the most, but i personally think dillinger had the best stage presence and got the crowd going for afi.

Eh it's only on the Wingnut ATASF cd. I don't think it's on the vinyl (I could walk like 3 feet and figure it out, but I'm lazy). I don't know if the Police are really straight-up ska...ska-punk, yeah. That particular song isn't very ska anyway though.

Art of Drowning was the prime album. Musical bliss yes, constantly changing styles though... is that a good thing?
To me, i guess its good and bad. But moving further and further away from the sound they arguably do best is not a wise move. I guess they see more meaning, but no other band can replace their shoes! Havok you are a hero that voice is amazing.

By your definition of that movement dying, the punk movement is dead too.

ok will do. btw, i rediscovered AFI's the boy who destoryed the world. thats punk. its got some neo-alt (kinda made that up but i think you know what i mean) riffs towards the end but the basis of it is pretty punk.
and btw, i havent heard many emo bands, going by the definition of that old movement. but there are plenty of bands here that emulate punk from the days of yore. im just waying i havent heard any but ok im downloading now.

ok i downloaded indian summer and yes, thats emo too. but its the kind that uses diminished chords. kinda indie influenced? still i think afi is the new emo. or how emo is called.
btw, isnt you saying afi isnt true emo the same as me saying its not true punk? i think a new genre should be made for that kinda music cuz i think we can all admit its not straight punk. and i know its not true pure emo but its damn close IMHO.
btw, im trying to come to an understanding of what yall think punk is and what emo really is and why afi isnt emo or some branch of it. im not at all trying to be confrontational.

new AFI I'd classify and alternative post-punk (if that makes any ****ing sense).
the stuff that AFI got really big for isn't punk. stuff that most fans you see on the street havn't heard is punk.
if you want punk AFI, listen to the first three full legnths; answer that and stay fashionable, very proud of ya, and the more hardcore punk shut your mouth and open your eyes.
AFI started going in the direction of where they are now during the black sails era, but still had some punk influences, same with art of drowning. sing the sorrow had some songs with punk influences, and DU has very little punk in it at all, some post-hardcore punk in it maybe.

Brilliant CD and you can really tell a musical difference having Jade come into the band from Mark, their old guitarist.
