What other alternatives do i have to make a bass line on my computer?

I mean are there any vsts or alike that i can write the music into and it'll make a wav/mp3/midi or whatever. Just im recording a bunch of ideas for a band, got the drums, guitar and vocals sorted. Just no bass.

I tried steinbergs 'voice designer' and just recorded the bass line on my guitar and turned it all down an octave. But that just makes it very 'sludgy'.

Thanx for any help you give :)

I personally use Fruityloops with the Natural Decaying Bass soundfont for my bass lines, it does an okay job for most bass lines.

Whats better- using fuity loops or a guitar with a switch to turn it into a bass?

ah, now ive got that (fruity loops) - i use it for drums. I noticed something on it called 'boo bass'. It sounds fine, but i cant quite qork out how to record the notes.. if you get me?

You could use Reason or some other synth program

no, you don't get the right punch. specially when you start doing slap bass
