Okay, say you're spelling out the major scale right. Easy.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 or T T S T T T S

Or natural minor.

1 2 b3 4 5 b6 b7 8 or T S T T S T T

But when you come to a scale like the Harmonic Minor...

1 2 b3 4 5 b6 7 8

In the Harmonic Minor you get an interval of a minor third between the b6 and the 7. This is a distance of three semitones, so neither "T" or "S".

How would you write out that scale then, is there a proper convention for it?

T S T T S ? S

Thanks in advance to Trea, who probably knows the answer :p.

The 'T T S T T T S' way of writing scales is way uncool.

Just write it:

1 2 b3 4 5 b6 7

I know it can be written that way, I'm just curious about how the T/S system would handle it, hence my question.
