Hello there,
I'm in the market to buy a new soundcard but I'm not certain what type to go with. I'd like something that supports 5.1 Dolby surround sound and perhaps has both a 1/4" and 1/8" input jack, and a mic cable input jack. I'd like something that is rather high quality for listening to media files and for home recording, as well.
Thanks!

Go with the standard....
SB Audigy 2 Platinum or whatever the hell they have nowadays.
I love my SB Live 5.1 card to death, have had it for almost 4 years, so I haven't a care for modern Creative cards.

SB cards don't tend to be recording orientated.

Yup, sound quality could be better and latency with original drivers is horrible.
Why buy a soundblaster when you can get a lot better card for recording for the same price?
