I'm a slipknot fan, but I also listen to John Coltrane, so I'm intellectually above you. Piss off. :thumb:

I don't think there was a question

He just wanted to be 'down with the kids' by dissing emo

Yeah that happened at one of our gigs. The punks said 'Emo sucks' on the mic at soundcheck. Naturally they sucked. You can always tell the punks that suck because they spend more time dissing emo than practising.

It depends what kind of emo you're talking about.

A large group of people have no idea what it is, and give it a bad name by labelling their crappy music and fashion with it. Then an even larger group of people end up thinking that that stuff is "emo" and that emo sucks because of it.

It's a vicious cycle that results in threads like this getting started.

Emo doesen't suck. You can't say any kind of music sucks. I can't believe people still say this stuff.

mm.. i think the question is in concern of the the cymbals in 'STFTK'. His username is 'travisbarkerrules'- so he must mean 'staytogether for the kids'. As in the Blink 182 song.

My friend, not entirely sure if Travis still uses 'Zildjian' cymbals, but if you use google to search for that companies cymbal website, do a little surfing on it, they usualy tell you which cymbals certain artists use. :P

Hope that helped.

funeral for a friend are pretty good, although their last album was a big dissapointment. They don't like being called emo, so they made a **** album in an attempt to drop the tag. And they fell flat on their post-emo asses.

I was about to launch into an argument of logic of why you can't say screamo is ****. But then I realised you're in a pub cover band playing pop-punk for highschoolers. Great work on that one.

I love it when bands diss people and then they suck.
My ex-friends band, Bleeding Pink (Yes, I'm naming and shaming) are a general punk band, female fronted. I wouldn't class them as even semi-serious, they do a gig when they get offered one by a friend or a boyfriend. So that's about 1 gig every couple of months.
They played a gig with TNJSMP, it was a charity event, and TNJSMP provided all the backline.
The promoters had already shown themselves to be a bit gay by putting the people who brought half the crowd and all the gear on second.
Then the gig went worse, TNJSMP got their set cut down to 10 minutes for no reason. Then a member from a random band trashed their drumkit.

They took it in good grace though, but naturally they complained on the local scenes forums.

Cue the frontwoman from bleeding pink.

She launched into an attack on them, accusing them of being bitchy and whining.
Then the self-pwn came, 'we didn't complain about playing bad cause the entire emo population of huddersfield were there'

At this point I felt I had to interject. Good friend at the time or not, she'd just signed her own abortion papers.

I retorted.

1. TNJSMP are NOT emo, if you think bands like Sikth are emo, then you are just being silly. These guys were heavier than all our local metal bands.

2. The fact that someone in the crowd likes emo doesn't have any effect on your musical talent, chances are you were just bad.

3. Sorry but I've known you guys for a while, you don't promote, you don't take any chances you get (I'd been offering them a basic demo using electronic drums for ages so they at least had something), you don't try and get gigs, e.t.c. You can't blame it on other people when no-one turns up for you.

Yeah, she got aborted.
The moral of the story = If you're dissing emo, you probably suck.

I think somewhere in your lil' brain some nerve endings crossed. Probably the ones that work on fact and opinion.
I can walk along to a Metallica gig and hate it. I hate Metallica. However I realise that it's impossible for Metallica to be a bad band because so many people like them and we each have our own tastes and opinions thus I don't feel the need to 'big myself up' by saying they suck.
If you don't like emo then fine, but don't be a queer and go around thinking you actually have any grasp on reality, logic or music.

If we're being fair.
Yes.
Despite the boo they have about it, they are pretty much an emo band. Their new stuff is a little more hardcore orientated, but it still meets alot of the emo conventions. To be honest, I think instead of whining about it, they should just write whatever they want to, if it ends up being emo then so be it. To me it just seems a tad silly to try and write new material with the aim of not being emo.
I still like what I've heard of the new album though.
