I usually run everything through my effects pedal to even it out a bit. Then you can just plug your guitar/bass/mic. into it.

Are Krystal and Acid pro free? I have Audacity, but I would like the highest quality free program that I can get my hands on. :D

Audacity
N Track Studio
Those two are free and very user friendly... :thumb:

As for the mic, I would get a preamp such as the behringer mic100 if you are ooking to make decent musical recordings. You would then need an XLR male to female lead to connect the mic to the preamp and a 1/4 --> 1/8 and a 1/8 to 1/8 cord to plug into your souncard line-in.

i use ACID Pro 4 ( 5 seems to give me an uncurable buffer on everything i record , and i soon get tired zooming in and shifting everything back a few ms), and i use FL 5 Producer Edition for my drums , and all my synths. sounds pretty good <shameless plug---> http://www.soundclick.com/weezul everything on there was done with just those two programs

you could use a midi drum writer like in that program that sounds like Sibelius...
