Hey, does anyone know much about T-Bone mic's?
I was looking around and came across them on www.thomann.de and they seemed quite interesting.
Im mainly looking at the 'shure-alikes', ie the sm57 and 58 styled mics, as they seem to have a good spec (the ones that actually have a spec anyway), and the vintage styled condensors look pretty cool too.
Any input would be helpful, thanks guys

I've got a T-Bone Sc300. It's a back electret, one of their lower models and it's really nice.
I've heard good things about them, and my T-bone is good.

heh cool, they seem rather good. im thinking of these:
http://www.thomann.de/thoiw2_the_tbone_mb85_beta_prodinfo.html
http://www.thomann.de/thoiw2_the_tbone_mb75_prodinfo.html
and then a choice between these:

or

With the condensors, im wondering is it worth £20 for a low-cut and -10dB switch??

haha they're all a rip-off of shure and blue!! Nice one, Tbone :thumb:
depends, usually it's not worth it because you can low-cut at the mixer but it is worth it if you are exposing the mic to high pressure levels, which would distort at the output stage of the mic so the pad switch is vital.

Like big guitar amp's by any chance? I've seen pre-amps with pad switches...would this be ok for that purpose, or would it need to be on the mic?

No, the output of the mic is where the signal goes out, if the signal clips there then it is too late to fix when it reaches the preap, this is why mics have built-in pad switches.

Just found this review of the red condensor mic (the cheaper of the two), and here are the specs:
diaphram size: 1"
20hz- 20khz
Sensitivity: 20 mV/Pa (-34 +/-1 dB)
Impedance: 200 Ohm
Max "Schalldruck": 126db
i would think that the 126db is in reference to SPL? (actually yes just checked that, Schalldruck means sound pressure)...so is that a decent figure, and will that clip easily or not? the Rode nt1-a is rated at 137db, just for reference.

/Is getting the rode nt-1a in three weeks :D
Looks pretty good though, most cheap condensers have limited frequency response but that's not the case with this one.

unfortunatley not, i even tried having a look on the german section of the site but there's no spec on it there either. i might email them at some point to find out, though for the price its probably allright anyway. il let you know when i email them
