Hey guys,

I recorded this today as one of my first ever recordings and certainly the first one to get further than my My Documents folder so be gentle please...

I'm not particularly good but improving, and I didn't follow the tablature for the fills and stuff, all improvised as I didn't want to try and make a carbon copy (altho wish I was good enough to ;))

I used a backing track from a Jam with EC book and then recorded multiple tracks with audacity.

The link to the file is http://www.i-ebdev.com/laylamaster.mp3 - it's a big file (16MB) as my convertion to mp3 capability is quite limited so I had to take what my program let me have.

Any questions or comments please post them, any outright flames please don't post them :)

Thanks in advance,
John

yeah dude, most definately badass, drums could sound a little more real. Good tone, Great main riff, a couple of wrong notes, sounds kinda like your fighting the neck to find the right note in the verse. Kudos though.

Thanks guys, the tone comment astounds me cause I think my gear sucks but here it is:

Fender Strat (Mexican) with self installed Fender Lace Sensors (Red, Silver, Blue)
Zoom 505II pedal
MG50DFX Amp

Recorded using a cheap headset mic, through AudigyII using Audacity and mild compression applied to even out levels.

Unfortunately I only had a backing track at my disposal, would love to have a band to record that with and get more punchy drums but thats for another day.

I've got another version up at http://www.i-ebdev.com/laylatake2.mp3

I've improved the fills and brought the whole of the outro in key, I've been told that I was out of key on some parts hence it sounded not too great but I've fixed that now hopefully so :)

Thanks for the comments guys,
John

Can't comment on the American Strat's, but my Mexican one is very playable and sounded pretty good even before my pickup changes.

Try a Mex if you can, if it feels good, it's worth it. They are so variable that you really need to hold and play it, there are some real gems so if you find one it's much better value than an American version, if only of around the same quality.

LOL I'll take that and say thanks Rob Bob ;) I'm impressed I got anything in the tone department to be perfectly honest considering what I see people here say about the stuff I've got!
