So it's out. I'm probably getting it this thursday, so those of you who have it, tell me how much better it is compared to the PS2, and do all you can to make me jealous.

I agree. I didn't like it so much. I'd rather play III or VC.

Simpli, GTA 3 is DA BEST GTA ever! But I still want GTA San Andreas so it can make my collection but I am scared that my PC will not run it.
Would my PC run this game?
Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2ghz
512mb pc2700 RAM
128mb GeForce FX 5500 overclocked (which is worse than GeForce 5200 Ultra)
200 GB hard drive

Let me know if my system can run the game. My system doesn't seem bad but Doom 3, Act of War, Splinter Cell series, Far Cry, KOTOR 2 ALL ran on my system on lowest settings.

I'm getting it in a week. What do you like better about III and VC? What are the actual stink things about SA?

I don't understand how someone can sit at a computer and play a GTA game. It must feel **** as. Unless you got like the compter in the lounge room or something and a big arse moniter and a good control pad to go with it.

I personally loved VC, because of the general vibe of the 80s and Miami. And it was fun, most of all. III was excellent as well, but I just felt that VC was more memorable.

Well to start off, the map is HUGE. That's a good thing, but it can also be a bad thing. It really sucks when you're trying to drive halfway across the map to get a mission, and then you accidentaly run into someone and you end up getting busted by the cops. Second, a lot of this missions are insanely hard. Which once again brings into play the large map: You'll have to drive back to them over and over again. It's an alright game, but because of those two things, you'll want to stop playing after a while.

I personally like the feel of VC, with the whole Miami thing going on. Tommy Vercetti was a cool lead character, and the game was a lot of fun to play. VC is basically the same as III, but you can get motorcycles and helicopters.

I'd recommend VC, but III is every bit as good if for some reason you can't get VC.

GTA games have always been better on PC even back when they were top down, but especially now they're 3D, the controls feel much more responsive.

Well I played enough VC on my mates X-Box to know I really like it. Plus the added options for customising your character, and other little additions (push bike drive by's!) make it sound pretty neat. I like the idea of such a huge playing environment too. Driving from state to state to do/find missions sounds cool.

Need to get my hands on a controller with progressive trigger switches though so I can just cruise in my car, as opposed to STOP or GO with the arrows on my keyboard :-\

I'm getting it for Xbox later today. The big map does sound like it could be a bit of a problem, but after a few weeks I end up just playing around with everything else and stop playing the missions anyway. So all the news additions will definetly keep me playing for a long time, and as long as it lasts me until Madden '06 comes out, I'm happy.

GTA III was definetly my favorite, the landscape just made it better. It made the driving more fun and everything just seemed interesting because it was more of a city than a resort town. Though it sucked trying to get back to the first part of the map (in III) without getting your car blown up by the mafia guys.

Yeah? Which do you prefer? Just out of interest.

Never been a console person anyway. They generally don't do RTS very well, and that's my preferred genre of game.

Well and FPS too, but first person games just DON'T work on game pads lol sorry ;) mouse + WASD rules all. Hehe.

*Goes back to playing E2150: Lost Souls* Old, rusty looking, but so much fun!
