View Full Version : Eastern Conference Game 7 Discussion
Very straightforward question (poll up in a bit): who's going to win?
Shaq seems to be getting stronger each game, even with two huge bruised thighs... but Wade is hurting.
No doubt the man will play. But, is it going to affect his shot? His defense?
And, ignore that thread about how two Pistons players, one who comes off the bench, were seen "partying." They're professionals, they're not going to party until tip-off
Rip Hamilton's calf injury seems to be gone, and Chauncey Billups is known as "Mr. Big Shot." Not many players really want a name like that, and don't want the pressure of being able to decide a game.
So, some questions and topics to discuss:
a) who's going to win, the score, and the player(s) of the game
b) will Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, and Elden Campbell control Shaq?
c) how will Wade's health be, and will it affect his game?
d) will Rasheed get in foul trouble and disappear like he has all series?
e) do you envision either team standing a chance against a well-rested Spurs group?
f) anything else worth discussing, really
Don't forget to vote, by the way. Poll up soon.

I'm watching it right now. Eddie Jones just hit a buzzer half time 3. They just reviewed it and said it counts. The Heat are losing by 5. Dwayne Wade isn't really making his shots, but is setting players up. I just heard Barkely talking and he said Wade has to set players up in order to win this game.
I just think, Wade and Shaq wouldn't let their team lose.
Well, this was a successful thread.
I probably should have made this this morning before I went to work.
Final score: Pistons 86, Heat 82
Seems like a very good matchup for the finals.
I predict a Game 7.
Not sure who'll win but I'm rooting for the Spurs!

Yes, it's my own thread, STFU
Discuss the NBA Finals: Detroit Pistons vs. San Antonio Spurs.
I'm sure a new thread will pop up soon enough, though.

Boo :(
I wanted an exciting final, Suns vs. Heat, now we have the Pistons butt ball stinking up the finals again.
So...
Tony Parker vs. Chauncey Billups: Advantage Spurs. Parker is quicker and a better ball handler
Manu vs. Rip Hamilton: Advantage Spurs. Rip is a solid player but Manu has been playing excellent ball.
Bowen vs. Prince: Advantage Prince, who's as good a defender and a better offensive player
Duncan vs. Rasheed: Big advantage Spurs. Rasheed doesn't hold a candle to the Big Fundamental
Rasho/Nazr vs. Big Ben: Advantage Pistons.
3-2 in favor of the Spurs, Spurs in 6 games.

Ugh, those stinkin' Pistons.
I think SA has a good advantage over Detroit, with reasons to what Sequitur said.

I wanted to see the Heat win.
I'm rooting for the Pistons now, and I think they'll win. They play as a team just as good as any team in all of sports.

I hate the damn Pistons.
Go Spurs!
So who should Bowen guard: Hamilton or Prince?
Is anyone else looking forward to Sheed picking up foul number five in a vain attempt to stop Tim Duncan, then throwing a temper tantrum? Anyone looking forward to the 20th time Duncan swishes a turnaround 15-footer right in that crybaby's face?
How about Larry Brown officially donning the "I Wonder What I'll Do First When I Land In Cleveland?" face for 40 minutes a game?
Spurs in 5.

Prince. Manu will do fine with Rip and Bowen matches up better with Prince.

i got the pistons in 6.. my homerism is getting bad. but they will pull it out just to spite everyone not in Michigan. Manu is my fav. on the spurs.. but Rip will run him ragged. and Prince and bowen will be a good match up. Sheed and duncan will be good as well but, can duncan afford to come out top to guard Sheed and the 3? sheed is also very underrated as a defender, duncan is great though. and Billups is a freaky good clucth player.

I think they will put him on Hamiliton or even Billups, because they are their two best offensive players. Manu could probably handle Hamilton though, and Parker can definitely handle Billups, so I think they might actually rotate Bowen to guard whoever's hotter. And The Spurs better kill the Pistons.

No one likes the Pistons. I mean, they deserve it, their a complete good full team. Their just really boring to watch, and they never score. They don't even have a decent superstar, excluding Ben Wallace.

I don't agree with thinking that Ginobili can handle Hamilton. Rip is like Ray Allen, an incredible shooter who is unstoppable when he's hot. Given the job Bowen did on Allen it would make sense to stick him on Hamilton.
Then again the key to beating the Pistons has apparently been stopping Tayshaun Prince, so you never know.

I'm pretty much going to disagree with everything.
I don't mind the Pistons. Although they're not my favorite, I love watching them. They do score, believe it or not. Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace, and Rick Hamilton are all superstars if you watch basketball, and are borderline superstars if you don't.

I can't stand the Pistons, though. The next time I see either one of the Wallaces contort their faces in a "What did I do?" expression I'm going to puke...they get away with more than anyone in the league.
Ahead of Shaq? I doubt that, playa.

i agree that they complain too much. but i love the pistons. who ever guards Rip better bring their running shoes. i think for the spurs to win they need something out of tony parker. i haven't followed the spurs that much during the playoffs but all i hear is how Manu and duncan are playing so well. what are Parkers stats for the playoffs? mainly the Assist/turnover ratio

The refs' treatment of Shaq goes both ways, Jom. Until this season, Shaq's opponents got away with everything in the paint every time he got the ball.
