Good game, but nowhere near the best ever. Don't get too excited.

how much is it? do you need a good computer for it to run smoothly?

I'd reccomend it for Xbox first. The PC version still has too many bugs. Although, one advantage of the PC version is the Restoration Project. The only major complaints about the game (and the only thing that keeps it from being a universally recognized classic) is the convolute, confusing ending that was cut short because LucasArts wanted the developer to put the game out by Christmas. A group of modders are working on restoring this content to be added on to the PC version. It'll be about standard rate $40-50. You don't need to have played the first one to get it at all, but there will be a lot of things that make more sense and are more fun.

As for the game itself: It's my favorite RPG of recent years, and among my favorites of all time. Even if i wasn't quite the Star Wars fan i am, i'd still maintain that, as it is such a smart, intricate, detailed and well-thought out game. Its story and characters are amazing and memorable, and it's definitely the one game i'll never forget because of these. If you appreciate more mainstream entertainment, you'll probably like the first Kotor better (not insulting it - Kotor is a supremely awesome game), but if you appreciate intelligent storytelling and a good romp of sociological and self-exlporation (like me, something of a movie buff), Kotor 2 is your best pick.

If you want a fuller opinion on it (which, yes, i have one), check the 30 second review thread for my review of it. Now, imagine how much i could whore this game if i were paid to!

I've just started working through the first one at last (even though my PC crashes every hour from playing it).

How much of a spec step up is number 2?

I will probably pick this up soon as I completed the first one recently.

Can anyone tell me what the extra ability you recieve is for being filling the scale towards the dark side is on the first one?

dark side gets the most offensive force powers, like force lightning, choke, drain life, horror... theyre awesome.

You'll need a low-decent computer to run it, a fair system to run it *well*. It doesn't look much better than the first, but the engine is terrible. Bad rendering techniques and stuff like that cause slowdown.

Pretty much the same just a few littl touch ups.

It isn't the best, but one of the best.

It's not that bad on XBOX. PC version will give you trouble though if you don't have a good one.
