Impossible Expectations was good man, I mean the playing wasn't the tightest but that will fix itself with more playing. But the song itself is pretty cool, well constructed, the beats and the riffs are cool and mesh together and the melodies are pretty solid. The vox sometimes seem like they're on the verge of going out of tune, as if the singer is jumping or bouncing or maybe he's playing guitar or something, but he actually ends up holding it together pretty well.
The only real negative, apart from tightening the playing and getting a more solid vocal, is that it goes about a minute too long. I don't necesarily mean the ending is bad, but after about 3:40 when the vocal stops for a bit and it goes back into that quieter bit I got the feeling like, "okay I've heard all these parts a couple of times already and they're cool but ...", you know, it's like ... if you cut it down to 3:20 or 3:40 you're more likely to leave the listener wanting more rather than zoning out. Maybe keep the longer version for live shows?
Burden is good too, I mean, it's not really what I listen to in general but I've heard plenty of that style and that song's not lagging. The melodies and riffs are fine, the drumming seems to have trouble with staying in such a slow groove but you know ... that'll come right with practice. The main weakness is the chorus vocal carries on in the same tone as the verses instead of taking off. It would sound way better if it went to a more aggressive howl but with the same melody, otherwise there's not really enough fo a lift in the chorus.

thanks for the review!
yeah we have gone through and re-recorded all the vocals because the singer works at a hotel and had been up for 36 hours when he recorded that. so they are getting a lot better.
What did you think about the clean chorus in Impossible Expectations? Other than the fact that he goes slightly sharp in one spot what do you think of his tone? I personally think he sounds better clean than raspy....more songs on the way...we just finished recording and EP. its in the process of being mixed and mastered as we speak

I went back to listen to it but you don't have it on the site anymore?
I like Subdued, the singer still sounds kind of uneven (it could just be the purevolume factor?) and too loud in the mix but his melodies are cool and the structure and riffs are good. The lyrics don't really grab me but the song is good overall. Didn't really like My Redemption but that's more of a generic taste thing, I just tend to steer clear of powerballads. It seems to be okay for what it is though.
Check out these tunes (http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=348629). Don't be scared to say if you don't like 'em, we like all feedback negative or positive and it doesn't change my opinion of anyone.

well, i have to say, the music was pretty good. the singing, i try not to be overcritical of vocals, as i am not a good singer myself. but i thought the vocals especially on subdued were really taking a lot out of the songs. the music, especially the guitar parts were really good (that solo in my redemption was cool, but sounded a lot liek u were showing off. if i could play that well, i'd probably show off too tho). tell ur singer to keep practising, maybe not try so hard, mellow out his voice. that might work, especially for listeners like me. his melodies were pretty good. keep it up.

Thanks for the reviews guys.
Yeah, the singer is still getting used to recording. He downright hates it but only does it because "its in the job description".
Also, hes making progress. We told him he should open up his throat more and sing more like he does at the end of Subdued on that last note he does. He kind of holds back too often haha but im trying to beat that out of him.
thanks for the good comments on the music...oh and on that solo....that solo was written in 8th grade when i wrote the music - im now in 12th grade - and we took the solo out for the recordings and did it live and everyone wanted the solo on the EP so we recorded the solo.
i wasnt complaining haha
sorry, i cant check out your music right now Jake, hopefully tomorrow. I'm on my old *** pc with now speakers.

Thanks for all the reviews. It's nice to have someone review your songs without just saying "oh it was good" or being overely nice about it. Even better, its nice not to have people be mean about it. Its really awesome of you guys.
Bombshell:
It's hard for me to even begin to review your stuff with the mix of the recording quality and my slow *** internet connection. If i remember one of these days at my friends house I'll do it from his hi-speed internet. Sorry.
Thanks guys!

Singer just needs some reverb. His voice fits the music, but it doesn't feel like it's in it. Solution? Add some reverb. Maybe some delay. In the first song, it sounds like he could use a tad more bass in his voice. Otherwise, it's good for hard rock.
I think the guitar sounds great, for the most part. The bass and drums didn't grab my attention, but they don't have to.

Pretty bad-***.
As everyone stated the vocals could use some work.
But I think it's more of a thing the more comfortable you guys get together the better it will get.

we will be going back into the studio to re-do the vocals on all of the songs now that he's more comfortable with recording and we are going to be recording a new song to put on a 2 song sample CD with Impossible Expectations.
The sample Cd's will be used for our street team to hand out.
Thanks for all of the input

hey thanks! we are heading into the studio sometime this month to record a song for the radio. we had a dj ask us for a specific song so we are going to head in and do that. ill be sure to post a link to it in here as soon as its ready!
thanks on the guitar comments by the way! haha makes me want to write even more guitar solos! but i don't know how fun that would be to listen to if every song had one :p

Yea, It sounds pretty sick but there still room for improvment, not just vocally but rythmically. on retrospect the singer got a little ahead of the rest of the band and at the very end when the drums came in to finish the song he came in at the wrong time. in my redemption, you guys came in off beat after the clean intro. Although i must say it was a tasteful solo. This could all be taken care if you guys practice to a click. so far, sounds really good.

rod3in1band: THANK YOU! haha i knew there was something wrong with that part but didnt know what it was exactly. I also think the drums need more in that part instead of "da daaaa" it could use "da da da da" or something possibly.
everyone: We have started to hit the studio again to record Stuck With You for a couple radio DJs who have asked for it so we will be going back and re-recording IE for sure and give them both of the songs.
slowly but surly every song will get re-done. ESPECIALLY the vocals now that Dan has found his voice. all clean.
thanks for all the comments, you guys rock.
