Just a simple question: has anyone here ever heard of the Monkey Island series?

I had a thread going on the Monkey Island games when this sub-forum first opened. Its disappeared though now which is a shame :(

Great Games! Say, I never figured out how to beat the first AND second games. I didn't have any trouble on the last two, but the first ones were hard for me!

Fantastic series.
There isn't one of them that I don't think are great, really really funny. Although some parts are extremly difficult.
Hehe, n00b :p
I can complete the first two games easily, I didn't really like the other two much.
Oh yeh...
You fight like a dairy farmer.

You should've just used the cheat :)
You should've just used the cheat :)
The cheat that took you to the
''Congratulations, you've won the game''
screen?

That very cheat.

I don't know the rhyming insults :upset:
But to hazard a guess at the comeback I'd say...
Its nice to hear you're so very constipated!
That very cheat.
I used that once when I was stuck on MI2
It took me months to complete it, very difficult game.

They're hard the first few times, but so very worth it.

Very true.
I may play some Monkey Island later on now.

Okay, using the Ctrl + W cheat is so ****ing stupid! The whole point of the game is to win it yourself and see ALL of the movies! They are so cool! Why would you just press control w instead of actually doing what the game is telling you to do? People who do that kind of crad (crap + crud) just Piss me off!
Pssh, me and Munky are too old-skool for in-game movies
Also, welcome to MX. You're my new favourite n00b

The main reason for playing the game is for the humor in it. Fantastic so if you use the cheat to skip to the end you're missing the best part of the game.
If you really are stuck on one of the puzzles just use a walkthrough for that bit.
The cheat was rather lame, I only used it once to see what happened.
I think in the end for MI2 I ended up using a walk-through.

But if you know all the Movies anyway you aren't missing much.
I think the cheat is pretty humerous in itself.

Hmmm... I just pressed Ctrl + W like u guys suggested, it goes straight to the credits! They don't show you the last movie! I've done it before, so it wasn't a surprise for me, but I still think it was kind of stupid.

Each to their own, I guess. I still quite like it :)
Anyway, here (http://s30.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0XDCK2BTEC74R2A3L2UUS0LWD7) is the Murray Mix which everyone should download because it's wonderful.

Yeah I used a walkthrough in all of em. I jus dont have patience. Although I hardly used it in the fourth one.

What is the Murray Mix from, anyway? Was it actually in a game?

It's a song that somone made using MIDI instruments and soundbites of Murray the talking skull. It's pretty much the same as The Picard Song by Dark Materia, if you've ever heard that.
Here (http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3LVJYNYRIBJH937L02L0WH06AS) is the whole of A pirate I was Meant to be from Monkey Island 3 as well.

I used a walkthrough for MI 1 when I was a kid (around the age of 7, I'm 17 now) and I can remember every detail of it. The only thing I have trouble with is matching the normal insults to the swordmasters insults.
Heh...I remember back in the day when I had it on the Atari, there was 4 Discs and a Save Disc needed to play the game.

We can always hope.
Has anyone played any of the other Lucasarts RPGs? Like Day of the tentacle? or Sam and Max?
I played a bit of Sam and Max once, it was quite good.
Grim Fandango(sp?) is a good game.

Actually I first played that a couple of years ago, it came with a box set of all the games. It was just unfortunate that Id already played and finished the fourth, and cause of all the in jokes i knew how to finish some of it already. The jojo on the gate lever comes to mind.

Oh yeah and speaking of non monkey island lucasarts games. Zak McKraken and the alien mind benders is one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played.

I found most of them when I was searching for an MP3 of the Duelling Banjos part.

I played the really really old Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade game... and I dunno if lucasarts still did that, but I had Maniac Mansion (wasn't that the sequel to Day Of The Tentacle?). Didn't ever complete it though, cause I was really young and it scared me when I kept forgetting to pull the switch to re-fill the swimming pool and the reactor would overload and blow up the entire house. I always used to lose. :upset:

And I still couldn't finish the last fight with the monkeys :(

I only ever finished the first one and that was only bcause I kept riging up the hotline and cost my Dad £50. The second one was well hard, the third I got to the end of but never finished, and I've never played the 4th.
