I know there is already a darts thread here, i searched it and its very old and pointless (with about 7 posts) so I've started another one, but its slightly different anyway.

I'm just getting into darts and have been playing a lot in pubs recently but there are elements I don't understand. Firstly I'm going to buy a board later on today, what should I go for on a low budget. Ive noticed there a few different types, which one is the "normal" one if you know what I mean. Like what they have in pubs and on the tele (the premier league thing theyve just had on sky sports)

Also, I've noticed on tele, when they are going for treble 20's , all of a sudden they go for treble 19 with the third dart. Why is this? They aren't cheching out with it there still in the 300's ,I don't understand

Cheers for anyone who can help with any of the above

Winmau are the main name in dartboards. Make sure you buy a surround for it as well so as to stop the wall getting wrecked by off target darts.

Players drop down to T19 because they a) have the T20 bed blocked by a dart/s and can't get a shot at the T or b) they want to take off an odd number to leave them an even number which is better, obviously, for the doubles.

Ah right, I thought a blocked 20 is why they drop to 19, but I thought this was wrong when they did it with a clear treble 20. I didnt think about keepiong an even number. Thanks for advice on the board too, I've seen a few winmau boards fairly cheap so I'll be getting on of those bad boys :thumb:
