for my A2 film studies course i need to do a in-depth project on a auteur. it can be a director, performer or studio but i'm having trouble choosing one. so i was wondering if anyone could suggest someone the werider the better. any help would be appeicated.

I belive an auteur is someone who has a specific style and has complete creative control in the films that they make.

The auteurs, and films, that come first to mind are:
Sergio Leone (The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West)
Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice)
David Lynch (The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet)
Federico Fellini (8 1/2, La Strada)
