last few days, it started with being banned in site forum for flaming/spamming Chad. That was 3 days on Prince Charming
Then I got bored and started trolling as I Follow Jono Like A Dog. Bant. Then The 57th Medical Failure got banned.
Then my troll account MudvayneFreak666 got banned for causing tons of chaos earlier. Then Prince Charming several hours after being unbant, for bragging about all the idiocy I caused. So yeah. It's deserved. They cut me a shiitload of slack, seriously.

How many hours a day?
Could you give us a rundown of your practice? What you do, how long and such!
I usually shoot for 5-8 hours a day, no matter what, whether it's straight through or in intervals. I don't have a normal routine, just work on my speed, accuracy, finger strength, different positions of scales/chord progressions, etc. Usually, I work more on writing than actual practicing, but yeah...sometimes I will sit down and work on odd time signatures, sweep-taps, etc. I really want to start working on multi-finger tapping.

AHh wow. That's alot.
The problem I have when writing is,
I can write riffs, leads, runs and shiit. But I can never figure out how to bridge them together, even if in key.
They sound nice as a song, but that little riff to bridge parts. Besides playing with it, any tips?

I dunno, I just usually think of fills and interludes. Like in "Cover My Eyes" I wrote that little thrashy riff after the first chorus as fill-in so the song would have a little more substance as opposed to just repeating throughout...which it does anyway :p

Usually I write and remember things but for the stuff I've been writing for B.I.A I've been recording on a Pandora 4-track and tabbing it out on Power Tab, because there is a LOT more going on.

haha. I've gotta cut the number of pinch harmonics in that tune. It's seriously like 1/3 notes in part of the verse. :rolleyes:

MAYBEEEE, they'll keep the C, and drop the other 5 strings a tone and go for the Arch Enemy tuning of C standard, that'd suprise everyone and be awesome at the same time.

Compare Needled 24/7 & Sixpounder. And then Bodom Beach Terror and Angels Don't Kill. Same band, same album, 4 different songs, the 2 in drop C being the chuggiest. I think if they were to even go back to C# standard, that'd be good enough, drop tunings are too limited unless you're very creative. I actually think the main riff to Living Dead Beat is very creative and challenging.

True. I actually like my riffing in CGCFAD best, over DGCFAD. It really forces me to break apart stuff, instead of trem picking @ a billion bpm. I need to cut down on the pinch harmonics. I actually played an entire verse where every note was one for fun. LOL. It was interesting, that's for sure.

I can agree that melodic ideas sound weaker in lower tunings but Something Wild anyone? Lake Bodom is the shiit.
I actually wrote a Meshuggah type riff in 7/4 and recorded it in Bb, then recorded it up in D and it sounded soo much better and clearer but D down to C# should make too much difference. I mean you can't really tell when Bodom play Something Wild material in D (live 2005 etc).

Tbh, you can't really udnerstand 4/4 and 3/4 if you can't understand 7/4.
The *only* difference is the first number in the fraction.
If you knew what the first digit meant, it'd be clear as to what the 7 means.
In 4, you count: 1..2..3..4..1..2..3..4.
In 7, you count: 1..2..3..4..5..6..7..1..2..3..4..5..6..7.
Ohh so simple. :)

9/11 is impossible.
I've always believed there's no such thing as a "complex time signature".
It's how you phrase the notes IN the time signature that makes riffs sound weird. I could write a bar of 9/8 that sounded simple, and a bar of 9/8 that sounded stupidly complex.
As I said, if you actually understand time signatures, you'll see that they're nothing but indications of bar lengths and usage of certain note types.
A good example = Meshuggah write in 4/4 alot. Why does it sound "complex"? Answer: clever syncopation and rhythm techniques.

Hmm, timing seemed a bit shaky throughout and that trill bit wasn't quite the same. That's all I can think of really, I didn't hear any bad notes, just a timing issue.
Real good sound though.

and not I don't use metronomes I don't believe in them I used the for a whle but hated them.

I can understand the metronome thing, but as long as you have the discipline and self control to not go to fast too soon and stuff, it'll come along nicely.

Most guitar videos on YouTube are terrible.. even if the players aren't that bad, I mean, it's really the height of conceit to put your playing up there. Why not find a band, film yourself live and put that up there? No one wants to hear your guitar playing alone, unless they feel like comparing it to their own. Bottom line.

The guitar tone isn't as clear as Alexi's and the lead guitarist isn't as clean so it's hard to hear the notes properly, there's lots of slides etc. But I do have the solos to Invisible Power tabbed out.

but Jani Liimatainen is using other fingerings while playing... it has something to do with pentatonic, so it looks ridiculous when Jani is playing.... and as far as i know there exist only 2 types of fingerings for guitar. do you know what i'm talking about, or do you know whats behind those fingerings?
edit: something i forgot and wanted to tell you some days ago, while we were talking about Jani Liimatainen. you told that you don't like his style etc. but check out the tabs to 'wolf and raven' -> the intro is amazing and can be used as a good lick/picking lesson!

It's personal preferance and how comfortable you find each one. I use index, middle, pinky too but people like Paul Gilbert (huge hands) uses index, ring, pinky. He finds that more comfortable, he's not doing it just to look cool.

edit: something i forgot and wanted to tell you some days ago, while we were talking about Jani Liimatainen. you told that you don't like his style etc. but check out the tabs to 'wolf and raven' -> the intro is amazing and can be used as a good lick/picking lesson!

Yeah I stumbled across this the other night, looks pretty challenging, especially for me since I can't do descending 4's. I doubt I'll work on it since I have enough on my plate at the moment.

yes; tbh most death songs aren't that good, but some are really fantastic and "trapped in a corner" is one of their best few songs!!

i remember when i learnt the intro of bed of razors with my index, ring, pinky... now everytime i play the melody i play it with i,r,p though meanwhile i started to use i,m,p ... the stretch from the index to the m-finger is a little big when stretching it over two frets but in the long run its better to play it that way instead of the r-finger.
but what i've seen is that jani liimatainen is stretching the index and the middle finger over 2-3frets!! :eek: it looks so impossible...

ah ok... i don't have this problem cause in the last few months i practised some good picking exercises, which really helped me + i learnt inferno and this helped a lot too!
what i have problems with are not 3 notes in a lick but 3 nots each string ascending or descending... i can't do this properly :(

Well I know age has nothing to do with skill but it's RARE that you find a guitarist that good at 18.
Not to mention when Bruce Bouillet would pick and Paul would play the left hand part on just one guitar and play a solo, fukking incredible.
