sure there are a few parts in the sweeps that are not clean but it's not too noticable to me. The only one thats really bad is the:

g|
And the last fill.

Hey, I just did a Silent Night Bodom Night cover, tell me what you guys think. (I havn't added the solo yet. Some parts are sloppy but I'm too lazy to fix them, like out of bends and stuff.)

I liked it. I thought it was sloppy in parts though. The bends were rather bad, tbh.

Yeah, that's why the solo section is missing for the lead.
Thanks for the criticism, it'll help me when I rerecord it throughout this week, I just needed to do the whole thing to see how it'll sound first. :)

Triple Corpse Hammerblow is going reallllly well. I'm nailing that lead at the start since the rest(excluding the solos) will be a cake walk.

I don't think that song has a definate solo, it's the sweep/alt picking thing isn't it, in Amin, then down to F#min. There's also that chromatic descending thing and sweep/tap combo, heh, good luck.

I don't think it's how long you've played.
I've played for around 2 1/4 years and I'm I think rather good for that point.
It's more a matter of how much and often you play. Also how much you practice said song or technique.

I'm probably gonna record a crapload of Bodom when I get my new computer and software, then I'll be able to record a million harmony parts, and re-do certain 2second licks if I need to, as opposed to having to start from scratch if I mess upat the end, or worry about the recording skipping because my pc is crap.
I'll probably do Sixpounder again, Living Dead Beat, Trashed, Lost and Strungout, Downfall, We're Not Gonna Fall, Hatebreeder, Towards Dead End, Hate Me etc.
Only trouble is, some of those solos contain 16ths at 190+.
:eek: --> :upset:
But I'm up to 130-150 on We're Not Gonna Fall and 160 on Downfall! Woo.

I'd like to hear TDE. The tabs out there are off on the sweeps right after the intro lead. It sounds and you can see is WAY different from what Alexi plays in the AYDY licks video.

They're not that different, they only thing that is, is the Asus4 arpeggio. All the other tabs just show Amaj.

lol I've never tryed a full cab but when I did my mini practise thing, I just put it slightly to the left of the speaker cone (if you were looking at it from the front) and put it so it was nearly touching the grill, sounded ok.

honestly, i kinda wish i would have gotten a shure 57 when i went to buy the thing. The associate said a condensor was PERFECT for micing cabs, as well as vocals.
Condensors are more for a recorded live tone id say. I have no mic stand, so its hard for me ya know

i probably should, but its really not that man. I realize it will take some trial and error on my part, naturally.
The problem really stems from bum holes on MX. After posting a thread with some photos, i was asked by countless people for recordings. After wasting 2 hours of my life, i decided to post the clips, sayin that the quality was not at all an accurate depiction. After being bitched at and flamed, it made me question my motives to recording something in the first place ya know.
I find myself doing it for other reasons than myself for people that didnt appreciate what i did, or didnt see it as a favor ya know. I dont want to become "sour", but thats is in-advertantly where i find myself today on the subject

yea, i try not to get upset/pissed at random personas on an internet forum, but it does make me look inward ya know.
I will say that there is a handful of people around here that may just motivate me to try again...
i mean, there was a kid saying that he can get better tones out of a PODXt compared to my Krank. After having a good laugh, all i said was "man, i hope you are dumb enough to actually believe that"
I guess its kind of a good thing that it happened, in retrospect. It reaffirms my beliefs in what i think is right, and it also solidifies the fact that i needn't look outside for affirmation that my recordings/tone/etc are considered "good". Its really a competition of me versus myself

No it wasn't from a Bodom song, I made it up on the spot, it was pretty far from anything he plays, it was a typical basic legato training thing, maybe in the style of Michael Romeo.
Also, check out tabs of Yngwie Malmsteen songs, he uses TONNES of runs like that.

I loved AYDY. But yeah, I know it's nowhere near their past works.
But HCDR is definetly the better album...it's more aggressive etc...I think if Alexander was still in the band, they'd still be i nthis direction. He seemed to me like he was the driving force behind the band's powerful riffs. That's just my opinion.

I'm learning it now, it's pretty easy so far.
And most people that say Raining Blood is easy, well that's BS, if you heard them play it you'd lol. Most people just trem pick, as opposed to playing controlled 16ths to a consistant beat/click.
Raining Blood is easy.
lawl.
I've watched them play it on War At The Warfield DVD. FTR.
Yes I trem pick parts. It sounds good. Though I'm you could play it like Slayer or better.

lol Raining Blood hits 200+, it's not that easy to keep up perfectly.
Especially since it's a low Eb note it sounds fast, try playing the high E string or play clean.
Plus, I just learnt Foul Body Autopsy up to the verse. I can play it at 180 so far. I could go faster, I just keep forgetting it as I'm playing.

Well to be honest, I learn the first 3/4 bars a few months ago but never really practised them till today. But I actually learnt everything up to the verse as I said, seems like Silenius got further. I'll probably get that section up to 240bpm then learn the rest, that's if I don't get bored.

80bpm, is that 16th notes and 8th triplets??
I know it's at 240 and is transcribed as 8ths, but my metronome doesn't go up to 240 so I half everything and play in 16ths, so my goal tempo is 120. 180=90.
I'm just checking to see what method your using?

What type of guitars can do that well?
Actually, it sounds better than Drop B. Drop B sounds awful.
No, I have not.
I will eventually. I've been slacking on it kinda. I love that post chorus trem picked riff, that's very fun to play.
My elbow has been acting up so I haven't been playing as much. Only a couple hours each day, instead of like 5 or more. I did play til midnight tonight and last night.

Why not? I get bored and restless easy and very much so if I'm not playing guitar. I can only do other things so much. IE, Computer, exerchise, TV, Video Games etc etc....
My life is such,
Classes in the morning/early afternoon
Get home watch tv or w.e
Grab a snack
Play guitar until dinner
watch some sports or play video games for a while
Exercise some
Guitar untill midnight or a little after.
That's basically my life, except order might be switced around on some days.
Note: I don't work.

|--------------------------
|-------9-----9-----6-----6
|-----8-----7-----7-----8--
|---7-----8-----8-----7----
|-6-----6-----9-----9------

if you notice (obvious) hes just chaning the middle 2 fingers, then the last 2. I find a VERY good practice is to just try to confuse the shizz out of your hand. Like, instead of inversing the middle 2, id inverse the index and middle, then the middle and ring, then the middle and pinky, or whatever

I know, tell me about it, I hit one bad note and I get annoyed, drop the metronome mark down by 20. I've had my gain on 4-5 lately too.

honestly dude, since i started not too long ago....
Its really about learning how to synch up your hands. to be able to feel the fretted note AS its picked, and releasing the fret to a point where the string is muted.
for me, im in a constant game up catch up with my right hand, so it was all about getting that basic sweep motion with the right hand.
Slow + metronome is the way to start, but you really need to concentrate/focus on what you need to work on

i checked my gain last night while on the phone with a friend. amazingly, my krank is only at 4, but im using a BBE in conjunction, so maybe thats why.
I got my sweeps clean at 140 triplets. Im fairly happy with that i guess. Not nearly where i want it, but im kinda going back to basics since I have a different perspective on 'perfection'
MRDuCran
04-14-2006, 04:03 PM
I like practising in 8th triplets, as opposed to 16ths, 'cause you can accent every 3 notes and it makes me feel like I can get more accuracy. I starting thinking this way when I started practising Necrophagist licks, since all their songs are 200+ pretty much, his sweeps are triplets or 16ths.
