Either way, I gotta listen to the first, and relisten to the second. Nevermore slays.

Great news! I got a new guitar.

Guitar Center was really cool and took back my Jackson JS30DK even though it was 8 months old. It was in excellent condition so that was good. I got 287 outta 320 back on it. I found a sick Ibanez and got that.

Coming soon to a monitor near you!

You still have YSI working for ya?

It's white/black trim. Like the color/style of Alexi's white ESP. Except it's not a V guitar.

I really liked a Randy Roads V guitar from Jackson. It had strings through the body as does the Ibanez I got. But I played it sitting down and it was rather awkward. Since I only play standing half the time, it's not worth it.

My rhythm guitarist has a Jackson Randy Rhodes V, it's a pretty damn nice guitar, but I find it near impossible to play sitting down.

Good good! It's always good to support the medical staff!

Damn right. The cord was digging into my leg and that got rather annoying. Plus it was rather difficult to pick at all fast.

The way he held his Wild Child Jackson in the HCDR licks video.

Umm. I'll have to watch the videos again.

The black and yellow Jackson was his Wild Child one right? That was in PTTR.

Meh. The point I wanted to make was how he held the V guitar.

Yeah, I always play in a classical like style, my style is basically like this (http://www.online-guitar-lesson-reviews.com/images/classical_guitar_position_lg.jpg) and/or this (http://www.guitarprinciples.com/Guitar_Technique/Classic-Electric.jpg).

I also just realized that I rarely ever play standing up. I've only done it like 4-5 times.

That Ibanez and my piece of crap acoustic, which I havn't played in ages.

EDIT: Guitar Center took the Jackson back since they agreed on the Floyd Rose troubles and the excellent condition it was in.

I got 287 of 320 back on the Jackson and played this guitar after trying like ten guitars... and I fell in love with it.

I'm also getting there on tuning by ear, though far away. I wanted to drop it down to D but the amps with tuners where taken so I just went by ear.

When I got home and tuned up, it was almost perfect. :smash:

Any ideas for songs to learn?

Dimmu Borgir or AYDY if anyone has a text tab for that.

How's your Epiphone?

I've never played or cared about Les Paul's that much. The Epiphones I've played though had a nasty tone to them. It was very "fuzzy" and they felt slopppy. Well, except the Zakk Wylde sig, that was sexy.

I don't have an ESP. That guitar in the picture is an Ibanez. For the record.

Alexi has an ESP which is the same color though. If that's what you're thinking of.

Well, I'd reccomend against Floyd Rose Tremelo. Unless you do non stop divebar action. It takes years to string the guitar, tune and it's not worth the trouble. Plus makes it difficult to go between tunings.

Example, with this Ibanez. It stays in tune just fine. But since there's no FR locking down the strings. I can go between EADGBE, DGCFAD, DADGBE or BFBEGD in about 20 seconds.

By the way, on espguitars.com or w/e it is. You can look at Alexi laiho's sig ESP. It's 4000 bucks, if you were wondering. Way overpriced for what it is.

He was quoting me btw. (too late) And no, I don't even have an ESP SV, I just like them alot. Alexi's model (RV) is a modified SV.

Floyds don't take years to re-string or tune. I can put my whole guitar in F (Meshuggah tuning) in 2 mins, it's just your technique tbh, just gotta know what to do.

I play Sixpounder (minus the solos). I need to get my arse in gear and learn the first solo. I'm not touching the second one though. :p

I'm going to learn Slayer- Silent Scream & Dimmu Borgir-Allehelgens Dod I Helveds Rike.... Infact I did choose another DB song. There's no way around learning this song. It's catchy and brutal.
Man.... Funny story from guitar center.

There was this troop of kidiots. All of em were like 13 or 12. One of them was playing lame, simple and beyond easy riffs while the others were saying things like, "omg dude keep going, keep going man" etc etc. I felt like I was listening to a pr0n flick or something lol. So I moved over to the line 6 amps which were right next to those kidiots..... Then I proceeded to turn the amp plenty loud, then played Nile- Lashed To The Slave, prolly the best I've ever played it. It was up to speed and the string skipping was done perfect. One of the kidiots noticed and looked shell shocked. It was rather funny. I didn't say anything, I just let my playing speak. They shut up really fast, I had a good lol.

Thought I'd share.

Yeah it's pretty easy, just make sure you get the rhythm right. You can play Sixpounder in DADGBE instead of CGCFAD and just drop it down a step. That's what I do and it works out/sounds just fine.

The part right after the intro was taking me a moment to pick up. Luckly, on my ipod (which is hooked up the stereo in my room), I can change the equalizer so the guitars stand out a tad more. I just turn up the song and listen. Plus when I you play the guitar parts right, you know it obviously based on how it sounds.

I'm at the part where it slows down,
the,

Paul Gilbert is one of the few shredders my teacher really likes. He gave me the tab and told me to dissect each lick to get a feel for what shredders do, but I never really learned it beyond memorizing the first arpeggios. I should really finish though - I don't think it's very hard. The fingering is very easy to get down.

WOW.... Demigod is a damn good album.

I even found a Conquer All tab that was 4.4/5 with like 45 votes on it. So I'll start on that tonight.

Man..... I'll be learning 3 things at once.... ADHIR by DB, Silent Scream and now this.

I didn't even realize when I got it, prolly cuz I was so in aww of the guitar but,

However, The Reign of Shemsu-Hor is Behemoth's best song. I'm not saying Demigod was a bad album - I loved it. I just thought Thelema 6 was better and more musically proficient.

Aside from some cool acoustic stuff, I find it pretth boring and repetitive.

If you have Guitar Pro just play Master of Puppets bar - 20-45 over and over again starting at like 120 bpm and working your way up to 220. 2 weeks of doing this and you'll be a beast.

not really because thats not hard or demanding riffing

its basic, linear and not exactly the pinnacle of tough rhythm playing at all

circlethedrain
04-09-2006, 03:13 PM
Yeah, but it will build up his rythm playing quite a bit. I could suggest something that he can't play too, but I don't see how thats gonna help him. If he wanted he could also try the intro riff to Black Friday by Megadeth, though I imagine he would need to slow it down quite a bit. Basically, just find riffs that you like in songs and practice them over and over again with a metronome increasing the speeds when you feel comfortable.

I don't have lessons no, I've always been self taught.

You should just do what I do when it comes to building a certain technique, take a bunch of riffs from songs you like, and practise them. Crap like Necrophagist and Slayer, Dragonforce, Lamb of God, when you can get them up to speed, you haven't just improved your rhythms skills, but can play along with your favourtie songs too!!
(Looks like Circle the Drain has the right idea too).

Get them all in one big powertab/guitar pro file, print it out and practise them all, that's what I'm doing.

You just have to take control of the lessons - if you want to learn theory, ask to be taught theory. If you just need help tabbing out something, ask for that. Last lesson I had, my teacher assisted me in tabbing out Catamenia - Iced Over.

I don't think your parents were taking full advantage of the chance for you to become a guitar god. That is what I would have told them. Also this, " When you are retired and sitting on your a$$ at home and running out of money, I will be living in a mansion. What album out of these should I get Follow the Reaper, HC deathroll, Hatebreeder

Well.

Hatebreeder has the neo-classical riffage as does Something Wild. Those two are the least heavy and most like power metal.

Hatecrew Deathroll is the heaviest along with Are You Dead Yet?.

Follow The Reaper is basically a hybrid of HB & HCDR.
FTR also has the best keyboards of the albums.

Hightlights:
HB: Warheart, Silent Night Bodom Night, Bed Of Razors and Towards Dead End
SW: Touch Like Angel Of Death, Lake Bodom and Red Light In My Eyes 1 & 2
HCDR: Needled 24/7, Chokehold, Bodom Beach Terror and Triple Corpse Hammerblow
FTR: Bodom After Midnight, Everytime I die, Mask Of My Sanity and Kissing The Shadows

In closing, all CoB albums are great.

If you want heavy,
Get AYDY & HCDR

If you want more classical riffage and "touche", get Hatebreeder and SW.

Follow The Reaper is right inbetween style wise.

Get em all!

Do you think I should get Are you dead yet or not?

Yeah, I'll fix the bends later. The sweep section was done first try without any warm-up, I'll go back later and do it.

Hardly anyone can play that sweep section right because the phrasing of it is diffferent to most sweep exercises that exist.
