Everyone is entitled to beleive what they want tho :-),not going to comment on anyone else some pp,l on here arent worth commenting on

i think too many people want friggin evidence, in writing that they can feel, taste, touch, eat it, and pass it through their lower intestines

to me, my faith is undeniable. Like ive said to others, there have been events that remove any shred of doubt from my mind. To me its obvious. I can kind of understand how people would be skeptical, but i think its all your interpretation of an event that just seems "beyond you"

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood
03-31-2006, 08:29 AM
Yes exactly i agree with everything you just said, nothing tho that i can think of has really happened to me in that way but it has to people in my family, especially when my grandmother was in the hospital dieing

Invicta_Veritas
03-31-2006, 08:33 AM
Oh, f*ck it, here goes.

I don't need proof, I don't need anything tangible, and I don't need anything from anybody to tell me whether I am justified or not in believing. Too many people ask for proof, and for some things, there just isn't, or won't be for a very long time.

Conversely, I do have very big issues with most organized religions, because I, like many smart people, recognize the historical inaccuracy, philosophical flaws, and hypocrisy of certain religions......

A lot of people ask me how I can be Jewish and still harbor Pagan beliefs, yet I feel I have the right to criticize other religions. Like always, I have to explain to them that original belief in Yahweh does not bar one from believing in the forces of nature that God created as well......Pagan may have been translated by Christians as "Satanic", but the true flaws exist within invented religions, ones that came long after the original ones were there.

There's my two cents.

repcak
03-31-2006, 08:47 AM
don't misunderstood me... i see a difference between people who "believe" (in something) and those who are (only) "religious".
i have only problems with the "religious" type, who think that through going to church, praying, etc. they will go to heaven, be good people and so on.

A person who "believe" don't need a church, he doesn't have to pray and for him it doesn't matter if there exist hell or heaven ... i have a deep respect in front of those! and there exist even this persons in the walls of religious institution ... the last pope was for me such a person.

for me god doesn't exist in the common sense. for me its not a person on a cloud watching down on us. i think that stupid and therefore its stupid that there are so many religious institutions! how said before i read a lot about buddhism and i believe it. i don't know if it can be called "god" or not, for me its everything, its the whole universe and therefore i don't have to pray, to go to church ... i have to be 'clean' (?) with myself.... and as long as i am clean with myself i can insult religious instution without having a bad conscience;

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood
03-31-2006, 08:51 AM
I pray sometimes i dont go to church but sometimes i watch it on t.v i beleive there is a heaven and hell, a person could go to church and pray there whole life and still go to hell u dont have to go to church to go to heaven but u have to beleive in god and beleive he died on the cross for your sin, thats what i believe.I have been saved but i havent been baptised i prolly need to be tho and alot of christians beleive that even if you are saved and baptised that u can still go to hell if u just keep doing bad things example marilyn manson,he was saved and baptised but he did alot of bad things and prolly hasnt asked for forgiveness for any of it.

ah... yeah, you're from the us... there you can see it on tv ... we don't have this in europe, thank god :p

@lil: i don't want to insult you, when you believe it and live with it, do it... but its exactly one of this things i can't cope with. i believe in jesus and he was a great man, a wise man, i respect him, but i don't believe it the way the bible write about him. he died on the cross for our sins... lol. c'mon, he died the same way as socrates died. he believed in something and he believed it so much that even death couldn't scare him.
and about sins in general... you don't have to ask for forgivness! you have to ask forgivness with yourself. as long as you are not "clean" in your soul it doesn' matter if a pope will say: "i forgive you"; for me thats bullshit.

and such things like heaven and hell doesn't exist... and even when they exist, i wanna be rather in hell than in heaven!

I feel like posting something about that religionish topic a few pages back. I recently had somewhat of a huge change in my life, and I departed from christianity. I now live by the philosophy of that none of us know anything because we all only percieve things one way, we have to accept that and use it to "learn" more. That's very vague, but gives you a decent idea.

It's fairly mixed in the US. It mostly depends where you live as well. Most people in a liberal state like California would accept it as ok. Texas or most southern states would be against it.

It's legal as of now. South Datoka just banned it within their state and made it a criminal offense. That's basically a pathway to getting the supreme court to review and (hopefully) overturn Roe V Wade. That won't erase all abortion though. Overturning it would just make it up to the states. In other words, if you live in Texas, you gotta get on a plane to Cali.

I'm against the Death Penalty for several reasons, here they are.

1. It's not a deterent as it's meant
2. Life without Parole is far worse on an inmate
(Death row is your own cell, no contact with other inmates, lots of family and lawyer visits, basic cable and radio if you but it from the prison and after 20 years if appeals failed, get a needle in your arm and fall asleep forever).
Compared to the dangers of prison for the rest of your of natural life.
Fights, getting shaked, raped or killed.
3. Innocent people wind up on Death row many times
4. I think it's used on Minorities more and unfairly applied.
5. Example,
Say you have a brutal rape & murder of a drug addict hooker with no family and you have the exact same rape and murder except the victim is a single mom of four? Who would you "feel deserves to die" more?
Most people would say, the killer of the single mom despite everything being the same....

Aren't you putting more worth on one persons life in that situation?

EDIT: Don't claim Death Row would be lonely. These guys are sociopaths, they aren't warm fuzzy people lovers who long for friendship.

Sleepy

I'm all for abortion...I'm against the death penalty though. I must say everyone's favorite drunk redneck, Ron White, said it best.

I think until you get into your mid 20s, relationships are rather trivial and immature for the most part. (GF's). What males and females desire is far different in 14-21 relationshps, I think.

It's not really better than you. I don't see it as a "contest". I just go with the flow and whatever happens works out.

Yeah. It becomes easier to talk to/ approach people but that gets ruined by the degree of complexity relationships take.

Yes, that's what she said.

I think age is being emphasized a bit too much here. Sure, there is a borderline between too young and being an appropriate age, but just because someone is under 20 mean they absolutely should not get married. Personal values and morals regarding relationships/sex/etc. play a large part, as well as the nature of the relationship and one's ability to handel it.

I'm not saying someone couldn't be ready for that at age 20. Everyone is very different.

I'm just taking,

My mental, emotion, academic and overall growth as a person since 14 almost 15. Since that would be 3 years. (How long til I'm 20). That's a lot of personal growth. If I change half that over the next year, I'll be very different.

17 and in college, huh? You must be a bright little kid, Charming :p Or did the homeschooling allow you to move forward faster?

My spring break ended on Monday, I got a good, long time off though.

Both. Here's the long story made short.

I was homeschooled until Jr. year of HS. Then I joined an ISP. (go in once a week, turn in your work and take a test). They obviously said I needed a transcript of previous two years of homeschooling.

My dad typed one up, it was very professional and detailed. 100 % accurate in everyway, actuallty it downplay sometimes tbh.

They rejected it and said it wasn't "standard".

Translation : We have a problem with your doing Jr. College work at your age and it's not "high school work".

and they dicked around... Didn't accept it.. In other words, I never got my credits awarded.

Facts:
I did more work in a day in home school than in their program in a month.
By my transcript that documented everything I had enough credits to graduate.

Studies:
Math
Writing
English
Science
Biology
German
Spanish (both for a while but never stuck with them)
History (world & US)
I would read anything legal related I could get my hands on and still do.
I studied music history and all this stuff.

Anyway...
That was in sactown, CA.
Then when I moved to Portland...
I choose to start at the Community College since I could get a years head start on my transfer degree. Two years there, transfer and get my BA at a four year school.

Technically I "graduated" high school though, since my parents filed paper work with the Department of Education in Sacramento country which made our house a "private school".
So legally, on a job appication. I'd check yes on graduate high school and if I was asked... I'd say it was issued from a Private School and not state issued.

No big deal.

Home schooling always sounds like a very complicated process.

The question that always sticks with me is: why? Why not stick with actual schools? It sounds like a huge hassel to homeschool, the story above being one example.

To Lil' Bloodred Mandy Hood: If your state actually requires a certain number of credits to pass each individual grade (up here it doesn't matter, as long as we have the required number to graduate by the end of 12th) then no, you'd have to redo grade 10 to gain the number of credits needed.

You get into colleges easier. Most colleges prefer home schooled folks since they are more self independant and smarter.

It's not a hassle at all.

Why not stick with public schools?

They don't offer as high a level of education.
You have to deal with the idiots and nothing gets done.

I hated homeschooling, despite the fact that it was the most enriching educational experience of my life - it was just so BORING!!!

Although I hate this boarding school more (filled with generic, gossip-obsessed, shallow people and the academics are pure cake), I'd rather not be stuck at home all the time again - it can get old real quick.

The academic quality of the student would greatly vary. Public schools aren't very good, but they aren't the only option. I go to a private school that is very highly regarded.

I really can't imagine that homeschooled students can get into college easier. Colleges base a large portion of admission on transcripts and prior records and homeschooling doesn't produce those. Then you still have to take the SAT/ACT, the scores of which won't be weighted by whether or not you were homeschooled.

That being said, I hate my school with a passion, but I still wouldn't want to be homeschooled. I would hate staying in my home for so long and I honestly don't care about getting a better education, since I'm not going to give a damn about math/science/English/etc. no matter where I take it.

No.

I don't know where schooling histroy, first off.

I'm assuming.

You dropped out when you were pregnant with your son or had him.

You'd start back up wherever you left off in, I guess you say 10th. You'd finish 10, then do 11th and 12th. Just be a couple years late.

At your age, You'd want to check into GED or "Adult Ed.". Since it would be more time efficiant for you.
Your local HS would have the Adult Ed. and a Community College would most likely have the GED program.

Basically, you take courses to "cover required needs" and then take the GED. GED is accepted as a high school diploma.

That being said, I hate my school with a passion, but I still wouldn't want to be homeschooled. I would hate staying in my home for so long and I honestly don't give half a **** about getting a better education.

Well. Then you should just go wherever.

Actually many colleges do. Research it.

Yes, you still have to do well on SAT/ACT tests. That's still part of it.
You make a transcript documenting your education.

Since I'm starting at a community college and working on my transfer degree in Criminal Justice. I'll have that transcript & my high school one.

I hear getting a GED is extremely difficult though. My uncle dropped out of high school and had to get one. He said it was ****ing hard.

I've never done that, so I don't know.

From what I know/understand.

You take required classes and once you finish those.

You take the GED. If you pass, then you get your "GED".

I'd think if you want it, it wouldn't be hard.

I could imagine it being hard. But in her position, I think she would still be able to go back to high school. If she went into 10th grade she'd only be a year behind, which is nothing terrible.

That reminds me, I'm taking the ACT tomarrow morning. ****. Apparently if I get a 30 or higher the local university (which happens to have a great music program) will give me a full ride. It's too bad I hate that place and refuse to go there.

Too bad I guess. Why's so bad?

OSU?

Miami Of Ohio?

Yeah. It wouldn't be to bad for her.

I've never taken it, but I'd think...

GED: would have the following

Language Arts
Multiple Choice & an Essay
Math
Most likely a mix of,
Pre Algebra
Mostly
Algebra 1
Some Algebra 2
Some
Trig & Geometry

Maybe something else... I'd think those would be on there.

Baseball
Basketball (NBA & College)
Football (NFL, College and sometimes AFL)
Boxing
Kickboxing
Hockey

I dislike womens sports though.

I know almost anything past & current about the main sports. :thumb: I've read the box scores in the newspaper since I was five and read so many stats over the years.

As was I.

Meh. I want a new guitar, but don't have the funds.

I'm sick of my Jackson. It plays and sounds 110% great.

It's just the FR is a bitch and I'm sick of it. I took it off and that was okay. The only difference was it took 5 seconds to re tune after 5-10 minutes instead of 2 minutes with FR on.

Same time to fall outta tune. haha.

I took the strings off and cleaned any dust from it. Now it's in my closet. :p

I used to be real heavy into sports...played/watch a lot of Football, Baseball, Basketball, etc.

I hurt my back irreparably early in the 6th grade football season so it pretty much rules out competitive sports for the rest of my life. Kinda sucks, because I wasn't bad at them.

Naturally, I started getting into other things. For a while it was computers, so now I'm *fairly* computer literate. Then I moved on to music. I still maintain a day job working in IT, but I focus more on listening to and playing as much music as possible.

Hmm. I don't see a difference in sound & playability on guitars with FR and without.

It was my first Electric Guitar and I had no idea how big a pain in the arse FR would be.

I was set on a Shecter with strings through the body. Then I played the Jackson and loved how well it played, the bridge and most of all how well it sounded.

haha. Now I'm truly ****ed.
Since I despise this guitar and don't have the funds for another one. Trade in would be nothing, maybe half a cent?
haha. They give nothing for trading in.

Mostly hardware construction/modification - I love tinkering with the hard stuff, coding and programming just seem beyond me most of the time. Learning how to build web pages seems worthwhile enough, so if I have some spare time I'll probably try to DL a course on it. I also fiddle around with 3D rendering and graphics.

I meant that if the guitar sounds and plays great, I would definitely keep it. The annoying FR is something I'd be more than willing to deal with. While my DKMG sucks to tune, it sounds and plays great, and I would never get rid of it.

Tbh, I don't see it that way. I don't go asking or looking for specific exercises for speed, because you can play anything you want fast, anything you want slow.

You should just take a lick/run/scale whatever that YOU find easy to play, and practise that until you can play it fast.

At the moment, I'm just practising a bunch of licks that I've collected from Bodom songs and put into powertab and I'm seeing improvement, I'm not sure if it's because I make sure I play perfectly, or my hands can adapt quickly, who knows. But just make sure you're playing everything properly, and easily, there's no point hitting 120 and struggling, then increasing speed, keep everything relaxed. I usually can tell by watching people what's holding them back the most, try watching in the mirror and see if it looks natural.

I guess you wanted exercises I gave you a lecture, so to be helpful, check out:
www.chopsfromhell.com
www.insaneguitar.com

Those 2 both have columns made by random guitar players around the world that want to share their licks/solos/ideas etc.

Yer I'm Mitch.

I also have a huge collection of licks, which I don't play. That's why I'm going through everything and putting together all my fav Laiho licks, and legato licks, my legato sucks. I think if I have all of them on on page, I'll be more dedicated in practising them. Glad you found those sites useful!

I can play 16ths at 200+, the intro rhythm to Needled 24/7 for example.
Lead wise, I can play the Downfall solo at 160bpm, parts of it at 170/180.
I used to be able to sweep pick 16th triplets at 110 but I haven't practising in ages.

But yeah you say you started to get sloppy and unrelaxed, definately go back and stay where you were comfortable, until you feel your completely ready to go quicker.

I'm not sure who's better...Priest varies their music more, but Halford gets MAD irritating at certain points. Plus, I think Maiden has the slight edge in the musical department.

It'd be my pleasure. I'm rather generous with music.

What's your email for the YSI links?

You should check out google video...I got a Children of Bodom concert that went for like 35 minutes or so off there. Alexi's playing was a little sloppy but it was still pretty kick ***.
