No, that was someone else. Nevermind.

I think so too. Alexi never puts the lyrics to all of their songs in the cd booklets because he doesn't like them. He doesn't think of himself as much of a lyricist.

it helps when you can only make out a word or two now n then :)

When I first started listening to them I thought they were great and that I would never get sick of them, and about a year later the music was boring me. Now I occassionally listen to them, but If you listen to a band constantly, it'll get boring eventually.

The booklet for HCDR doesn't have the lyrics for all the songs. I'm pretty sure it has the title track though...They're so agressive (almost on a cheesy level) yet so cool.

Hatecrew Deathroll i got off of iTunes, and the other 2 i couldn't find in stores...so my friend burned them for me.

Funny story...when i was going to download HCDR, my mom was like "I don't know if i want you downloading this...i don't like the cover of it. It doesn't bode well with what the lyrics may be."

There is no forced military duty here in the US, it's 100% volunteer based. I was always into all that **** growing up, so it seemed the logical choice after high school. It's fun at times, shitty at others. I'm ready to get out though, I need long hair :). I'm in the Army by the way.

Me too. That's why the new album having Industrial elements kind of intrigues me. Coupled with the amazing guitar and keyboard, it sounds like the new album will be very unique and atmospheric.

Inearthed is Children of Bodom. See story, below:

Children of Bodom started out under the name Inearthed. They wrote songs and signed a deal with a small Belgium label under that name. The problem: it was a shitty deal. Bad production and the label wanted the band to pay for every copy of the album themselves.

When Spinefarm heard their stuff, they offered Inearthed a real deal, the type a full-time major band gets. The problem: they already signed to this Belgium label. To get out of the deal they made it look as though the band had broken up. They then signed to Spinefarm under the name Children of Bodom and recorded and released Something Wild with the same title, artwork, tracklisting, etc. They just pretended to break up and changed their name to get away from the small label.

Hope that answered your question. :thumb:

I was beginning to be fonder of Hatebreeder than Follow the Reaper when I first got it; I couldn't stop listening to it...it was just so good. But I put Follow the Reaper in the other day and listened to the entire album and it reminded me that it was my favorite.

I got a scare though; at the end of Everytime I Die and the beginning of Mask of Sanity the CD was skipping really bad. Really skipping. I freaked out and put the head cleaner in, but it didn't help much. So, yeah. it sucks. I was able to clean the CD a bit, and it only skips a little, but I still have to fast forward to when it doesn't skip anymore. Grr.

I've always wondered...do we really have to use the "with harsh vocals"? Can't we just say power metal? It sounds so stupid and cheesey when someone says they have "harsh vocals". Maybe even aggressive or extreme power metal...I don't know, the "with harsh vocals" is just an odd annoyance of mine.

People tend to link the vocals with Death Metal.
It's the jarring difference between COB and conventional Power Metal so it is usually necessary to point it out.
It also enlightens people to the fact that despite having harsh vocals, COB are, in actual fact, a power metal band.

Something Wild: 8.5
Highs: Lake Bodom, Red Light In My Eyes pt. 1, In the Shadows
Lows: The Nail, Touch Like an Angel of Death (both good but not as good as others)

Tokyo Warhearts: 8/10 - A short live album, needs more
Highs: none
Lows: none

Follow the Reaper: 10/10 - My personal favourite!!

You know what I'll make mine short, I give 10 to all albums, because they have enough good material to occupy you for days and days of listening to them. And as for the last few tracks, that's why they have a seek backwards button to go to the beginning again.

It's not really suprising that girls like metal. My friends are metalheads, and I impose a serious metal influence on the girls of my high school. The DXMG is a badass guitar. I have a DKMG (which is the same basic thing but with a few premium features) and it's incredible. 24 frets, active EMGs, 'tis wonderful. It also has a TurboCharger and through my amp (which has **** high gain) I can get some amazing metal tones. Though I usualy gravitate towards a very trebley tone like Alexi's.

Hell yeah. Diehard Children of Bodom fan.

So let's hear it from the disgruntled musicians. Is there anyone here besides me who struggles to improve at guitar but still isn't quite good enough to "shred"? I can play many of Bodom's lead parts, I don't bother with their chord-based riffs, but I can play zero solos (aside from the ones I'm slowly working on). Someone please tell me I'm not one mediocre guitarist in a thread full of shredders.

I can play many of Bodom's lead parts, I don't bother with their chord-based riffs, but I can play zero solos (aside from the ones I'm slowly working on). Someone please tell me I'm not one mediocre guitarist in a thread full of shredders.

I'm mediocre as well. Can't play hardly any solos, howver I'm working at improv shredding and getting ok at it. I just need to learn more scales. Hey everyone  .

 Hi Chris! How's the cover coming? You're going to have to deal with me asking about it, it's my favorite song off Follow the Reaper.

Still at everything done but the solo. I'll be working on it a bit tonight, and lots tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get it to Ollie by Monday or Tuesday. Man, Subway is so damn good.

I'm with you there. I can only play the rhythm to Sixpounder and some of the riffs to Chokehold and Bed of Razors and such. I haven't learned any solos and some of the stuff is just plain hard. GuitarPro helps me a lot though.

Good to know. Thanks for reassuring me, people. It sounds like most of us are equals. But with my newly acquired transcribing device I find I can tab out any song and play it at verying speeds...but I still have to start slow. Deadnight Warrior, here I come.

I've just been getting into COB.
And I completely dig their ****.
Angels don't kill has been in steady rotation because it's my favorite song by them.
Recommend me some more of their stuff.

I'd say I'm a shredder. Anyone who wants to hear me just IM me on AIM. I have yahoo but I never go on unless someone wants to do a jam.

Leah do you just practice without distortion? I suggest you buy a cheap practice amp with a nice metal tone. I own a Roland Cube Micro for practice and portability, it is great. It is 3 watts, overpowers a drumset by way more than you'd imagine, and has a few amp models, including a very nice dual rect.

Just get anything from their Follow The Reaper album to hear them at their best. But if you liked Angels Don't Kill I also recommend anything else from Hate Crew Deathroll. Anything, just get anything, man.

How long have you been playing, if I may ask?

Very close to 2 years. I started shredding around 1.5 years, maybe a little less.

Yeah Spider II's are really nice practice amps, great metal tone.

Hey man, don't get down about not being able to shred after 2 years. Be glad you aren't on the guitar forum, but that place is the only reason I'm this good. There are people there who play Eruption after 1 year and stuff and I always got so discouraged that I worked my a$s off. Just see me as motivation to work harder, I practiced songs and scales and such for hours everyday to get to where I am.

Yeah, thanks for not reveling in my apparent sorrow. :)

I stay away from the guitar forum for the same reason...people who have insane skills after so little time. I usually look at that and it makes me work harder...but I think I just waited too long to start working my *** off. I practice several hours a day but I guess I just need to focus more on scales, etc.

I used to only post in the guitar forum, now I only post here. It helped me learn a lot of stuff and get really motivated, but I think my time there is done and I've learned all I have to learn from there. I remember though, it was like a warzone in there. Either you had to shape up and be a prodigy or you basically got flamed. I was metaphorically whipped into shape. I love the atmosphere on this forum a lot more. Most of us here play guitar, but everyone is so easy going.
