*Ok I agree this is your best out of the 3, I can definately recognise this part.
I think the main thing to work on for this is just the timing, getting that 8th note rhythm nice and steady and make sure you know the notes perfectly, then you can play with agression too. It's nice to throw your head back and play sometihng like you mean it instead of sitting tight to make sure you get it, makes alot of difference, e.g Zakk Wylde, he hits those strings so dam hard and his vibrato....!!!!
But yeah, it's getting there.
*Did anyone get those scanned Needled 24/7 tabs from PsychoticFlubber??
*Can anyone play the intro lick to Towards Dead End?
I sent them out but for some reason it said there were errors with the e-mails. Sorry, I havn't been on in a while. If you have another e-mail adress, I can try that, and if not that then if you have an AIM name I can send it through that as well, I am really sorry about the delay.

Sweet Bodom Riffage.... Bodom Beach Terror... the lead riff.
A shameless repost! :thumb:
To be honest, a lot of the riffs in that song are a little easy. Here is a video of me playing the begining to that chorus that you played...

I got Kalmah's The Black Waltz album last night. I can't wait to listen to it today. 66mb dl in like 3 minutes. Yah I was flying...
I might try and find some sweet bodom riffs to learn today. I'm thinking the lead outta Triple Corpse Hammerblow or if I feel adventurous Towards Dead End.
Why are their no accurate tabs for Angel's Don't Kill, by the sound of it... It seems like one of their most simple songs. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how it sounds.

Be prepared for a challenge in you're going to learn TCHB or TDE by the way. I mean sounds people might say it's easy but even Alexi fukks it up bad on the Young Guitar DVD.

The Black Waltz was amazing and refreshing.
Nice dark tone, great vocals, some very nice leads as well.
I'd have to say it's a 4.5/5 album. I thought it would be good, but it just blew me away.

Can someone list all the songs they covered?
Well, some of these aren't entirely, but they are the songs I have enjoyed the most...
Ozzy Osbourne - Goodbye to Romance (mostly the solo... the first decent solo I nailed perfectly)
Children of Bodom - Sixpounder, and Chokehold (Cocked 'n' Loaded).
Suicidal Tendencies - Cyco Vision (Inspired by Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 hahaha... I just found out who played it a year ago and learned it in a couple minutes).
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Metallica - Fade to Black, One
I was asked to play "Brain Stew" by Greenday as my first song being played with a drummer. Probably the only one (other than Cyco Vision) actually covered with someone else.

Yeah... my camera sucks so it doesn't give much time to record... my card for it is only a couple MB. Therefor I try to get as much in as I can.
To MrDuCran: I don't have any of the videos, but I found some on YouTube.com all you have to do is search "Alexi Laiho" and it comes up with some.
To anyone else... has that Alexi vid been leaked yet? The one with the AYDY? licks? I really want it sooo bad... if anyone has it I will deffinately trade you some albums for it if I can.

Yah... I'd like that AYDY licks video alot.
I'll send a video or 3 cds to anyone who will send me it!
I just got The Black Waltz from Kalmah, btw. It's mindblowing.
I spent the last several hours jamming.
Starting figureing Towards Dead End by ear and then when it came to the lightning fast sweeps or w/e they are.... I cheated and broke out a tab.
Once I get that up to speed, I'll be styling.
I worked on the PTTR demo 2 tab that Mitch uploaded. I've got the first riff down...
I have to tune my guitar, jamming for hours on end the last 3 days..has done wonders for staying in tune..:p

I mostly learn random riffs that I like to hear or sound interesting in some way. Sinergy did a wide range of covers as well though.

Uh... I can try to switch the format of the picture... not sure why it's not printing... could have to do with the size possibly? I'll try to figure it out and send it to you.
EDIT: I just tried to switch the format, but even after I do that it comes up as the same thing. It's not working... didn't you fill it in as a solo for Guitar Pro at one point? Why don't you print it out through that?
MRDuCran
02-20-2006, 02:11 PM
I did copy it in Guitar Pro yeah but I just like the way magazines are presented, which is why I get tempted to buy everything, magazines, cds, DVDs instead of downloading etc. If it won't print at all, I'll leave it because I came up with different results when I transcribed it and I copyed my version up and wrote it down instead. I can play it at 110. :)
Kurrpt, I can play the UM intro JP style perfect at 105 so far. Any quicker and I start to forget the endings and mess up.

Playing slow is frustrating for me. I know it's often more effective to play cleanly at a slow speed than to play sloppy at a high speed, but for some reason I can't shake the idea that I'm wasting time when I go slow.
Which speed is that?

Hey Ben, 85 isn't bad. It shouldn't be how fast you can play it after a day, it's how cleanly you can play it overall.

That's good, I was thinking the same thing. It's slow but I can play it nearly perfectly at that speed. Time to speed up methinks.

what i tend to do is play through the intro 10 times. If its not 99 % pefect, i wont move up in speed.
for the longest time, i was having consistency issues. Thankfully, i have progessed past that obstacle. I think im pretty good for about 19 months of playing

Final Resistence is one of my favorite songs. The album is one of my favs as well. Quite possibly in my top ten favorite albums.
I'm one happy mutherfukker right now.
I just finished dl two CoB full concert videos.
One from Lyon France 06 on the AYDY tour. The AYDY set list with a 7 minute dual between Alexi and Janne. Sound quality is good but not great. Video seems to be from a balcony over looking. Plenty of close ups but not enough for my taste... though I won't complain.
The other is from 05.. I don't remember anything else about it, I havn't watched it yet.
haha... In Your Face.....:p
EDIT: I'm also dl the TL&S dvd videos but it's going at a crawl so hopefully they will finnish..
EDIT: Holy ****! This second concert. It's in Japan and it's hella good video and sound. It has a little thing where Alexi and Roope say a word to the camera at the start and the presentation seems maybe official. idk
Non stop close ups of Alexi playing. The Camera work is definetly professionally done. It's showing everything all up close and perfect.

I realized that a few minutes about the DVD EP. Though it's just more Bodom stuff to have, not gonna argue with that.
I didn't dl the tuska videos, I had it "do not dl".
idk The japan concert seems to be a TV rip as Lowlands 05 is with Nightwish.
Good stuff.
Only problem with uploading or sending is, they are both 700MB. well like 697 or so. yah.
I tried to upload the Tuska video last time and that was smaller...My internet crapped out before that worked.
Sending VIA AIM might work if AIM behaves.
I guess I could in some spare time, cut the video into parts? To make it smaller and in pieces.. Idk.
post ideas or w/e... I'll try w/e in my spare time.
EDIT: Once I finish cleaning up my Desktop here and then my laptop tonight/tomorrow... I'll try cutting it in parts with my video converter.

Yeah... I don't care if I have multiple concerts with the same setlists. I just downloaded the Nosturi show. I havn't watched it long, but it looks perfect and professionally done. I am downloading another show from this year right now. I will buy the DVD as well when it comes out. Hopefully Alexi does something like Zakk Wylde did and make a guitar-instructional type thing on the concert DVD. I can't wait until that Are You Dead Yet? video comes out either... it'll be cool to see a new music video by them.

You only think it's for a day. Hearing loss stays with you, the tiny hair follicles in your ear never fully repair themselves after such a severe beating.
I agree, if you get a good pair of earplugs a show does sound better. I've worn **** earplugs and had the bass frequencies actually get louder, and I ended up taking them off. Get a musician's pair.

I won't hurt anyone or anything, don't worry. I'm a very effeminate guy who doesn't like to use violence. :(
I say go to Arsis. You'll get your *** kicked heavy metal style! I'll make sure she can go. I'm good with these things.

From what I understand, it was partially due to the lack of water, and the temperature chage from really hot at the show, too really cool in her van, and at the hotel.

We don't know yet. I've been sending her hundreds of messages through her phone since she gave me the number (it's okay, she says she likes it :p), but we just found out she gets charged for it so her parents want me to stop. Plus, her mom apparently doesn't like her talking to me so much, and since she's so sick, it's hard to tell exactly what she's talking about. And now with work and school piling up, she has a lot to do and I don't really fit in there.
Oh well. We'll figure something out, but this royally blows.

Yeah, it sucks, it sounds like they're always doing something. Her parents seemed really strict at first, but then suddenly they seemed completely fine with us, but now it seems like they're getting irritated by it. Now I feel bad, like I'm causing problems over there. I guess I'll just have to wait and see since there's not much I can do from way up here. Until then, snail mail.

Good, because when I visit this summer, I'll only have a day or two. The three of us can get together and music fans around us will immediately convert to extreme metalheads. It will be incredible. Of course we'll have to be super old school and play technical jazz/death metal like Atheist or Cynic, only with more growling.
You've got to tell Leah this for me. I'd do it myself but that's a bit tough right now. Those will be the most productive 48 hours of my life.

I could never ever express the importance of HCDR to me... it's the best... don't kill me you FTR and Hatebreeder fans, I love those albums too. I've been learning the lead riff in Tripple Corpse Hammerblow. It's not too easy, although I did mess with the GP tab so that instead of going to the 14th fret on the F string, I just go to the 10th fret on the A string which makes it a lot easier.

1. Hate Crew Deathroll
2. Follow the Reaper
3. Hatebreeder
4. Are You Dead Yet?
The TL&S EP meant nothing to me. Although it feels impossible to rank those albums, I just know which ones I listen to the most. Hatebreeder has outstanding lead guitars, and Follow the Reaper just has some of their most awsome songs over-all in my opinion. Are You Dead Yet? took me a few days to really like. I don't think I started liking it too much until I gave complete attention to the riffs. In Your Face was a good song but I thought it was too corny to be Bodom at first. Now I love that, and a majority of the songs on that album. Hate Crew Deathroll is just one of those albums too me that I can't let go of... something I will always be practicing on guitar. I just pray that there will be a day where Alexi has shown and or tabbed out everything too all songs on that album. Especially Angels Don't Kill.

Okay people, don't kick my @$$ for the tripple post, but I found something absolutely awsome in the Nosturi video. To everyone with it, watch the end of it when Alexi is about to play the guitar solo in "Everytime I Die". Janne comes over to him and plays air guitar behind him, which is obvious, but I think he is making the exact finger movements as Alexi showing that he too probably knows how to play the solo. That's not the cool thing entirely, it's that right after that when Janne plays his solo Alexi is playing with one hand, and the other hand is in the air mocking Janne by playing an air keyboard solo hahaha. Okay, maybe it's not funny or cool to anyone else, but I had to point it out.

Get Follow The Reaper, then Hatebreeder, Hatecrew Deathroll and Something Wild next.
AYDY is the heavist Bodom.
Hate Crew Deathroll is the next heavist.
Follow The Reaper, the keys stand out alot..great melodies ..
Hatebreeder, it's a lead riff/solo fest. Listen to Towards Dead End and Bed Of Razors for examples.
Something Wild- Has plenty of classical influence to it. Very raw. Great though.

Well coming from a Opeth fanboy...You prolly have very very very high standards for live shows, because Lamentations pwns all live shows ever.
The concert on the AYDY tour from Notsuri doesn't have any annoying fans nor does the Tuska 03 one.
The show I went to portland OR at the Roseland. There wasn't any of that.
It was mostly body-to-body, plenty of headbanging, some moshing.
There were way to many little kids though.... I was like wtf...

i know he covered "She's so beautiful" but i thouht this was a little bit ironic... is Alexi a real, true AWK-fan!?
The fact that he is a reall AWK fan makes me like him a million times more.
screw all of you
Seriously though, technically speaking he's not all that great at all.

I'm not really trying to be a jerk here by the way, but i'm just pointing out some things. Any actual drummer will tell you that Joey can't play worth a damn.
Bodom related: Anyone notice how that little riff leading into the chorus of Follow the Reaper is soooo awesome?

Don't be an idiot man, of course it's an opinion, people need to realise what they actually are and stop whining.
I wouldn't call that sloppy at all.

Tokyo Warhearts is a good cd, To me Cob sound very awful live(maybe its just the album) and the fans on it are very annoying.
War of Razors is crazy. I love listening to battles like that.
