I had a weird CoB dream a while ago.
Alexi lived down the street from me and we would jam a lot and stuff. He had a hot sister and one day his sister and I were watching a movie then she came on to me. I was at first hesitant because it seemed a little awkward, but then I gave in. I remember enjoying life because I was with a hot sister and had a good friend across the street that I jammed with all the time.
Then I woke up from the alarm clock and had to go to school...:(

i heard this from a friend who has/had email contact with alexi laiho since he was 16 (and alexi maybe 20!?). he still has contact with their ex-guitarist Alexander Kuoppala - but now i'm not 100% sure, cause i asked Alexi (when i met him) if he knows this guy, but he said "no"; maybe alexi couldn't remind him, or he didn't want to talk about this... i believe that this guy had email contact with alexi and still has with kuoppala - he knows a lot of intern-things about CoB you can't read on the internet.
for example: on their first video they released (Downfall) Janne wears sunglasses and a hood. thats because they weren't sure if Janne will stay and he had short hairs while recording the video.

I love my nano as well. More storage would be nice, but it's not too much trouble to upload different songs or anything. Batteries aren't really a problem as some people say, just turn off your backlight.
Also, if you have problems with the screens cracking, listen to this. I dropped my nano from my car while moving, sans case, and the screen was fine. However, a friend I know who has the new video dropped his onto a carpet from about two feet up, with a case, the screen broke and the hard drive got corrupted.

My old iPod's HD got corrupted because something hit the belt clip on it (I have since taken it off the case, I never used the belt clip) and it dented the HD or something.
I have a refurbished one now, which works fine. 4G iPod.

I've always found with Bodom, that the more you listen to an album the more you tend to enjoy it. When I first heard Something Wild, I didn't like it at all, but now that I listen to it more and more, I really like almost every song on the album.

I don't really dress "Metal" I look more like a harder classic rock. But that's only cause my mom doesn't really want me to walk around in a "Are you dead yet?" shirt. I usaully respect there opinions (most the time)
LiKe they wouldn't make me not wear it...but they sure as heck aren't going to pay for it and those shirts are like 20$
So I would dress like that if I could afford it....but I can't so I don't worry about it.

Dragons are the ****. You must not be a power metal fan at all.
I'm probably going to go see In Flames in February. They're playing with Trivium (a metalcore band I really don't mind) and Krisiun (who I've never heard before...some info on them would be great). What's wrong with a burn? You don't look at the CD when you listening to it.
The only way bands make money is from people buying their music and merch. If no one bought any music, bands wouldn't make money. They might be forced to make internet sharing laws more strict and severe, and no one wants that. I'm starting to think that in the decade or so, albums are going to start to be released only on the internet.
Bottom line- burning is for pirates; buy albums.

I probably download more than I buy, simply because they don't sell much European folk metal in stores...I have been forcing myself to spend money on CDs I really want lately, though. I also buy CDs that I downloaded if I really like the band. An example of this being getting Wintersun from one of the mailing lists and proceeding to order it the next day. I support the bands I like, and I don't buy much of anything for the bands I don't, anyway.
I hardly ever try out bands by buying their CDs...although I ordered the new Amon Amarth from a recommendation and must say it was far from a let-down :)

I've been trying to get actual CD's instead of burning. Which is why I asked for all of Children Of Bodom's CD's for my birthday...
Plus, i'm tired of looking at my CD rack and seeing nothing but the crap I used to listen to before I got into Metal.

I also buy CDs that I downloaded if I really like the band. I support the bands I like, and I don't buy much of anything for the bands I don't, anyway.
:thumb: i agree, i do the same

I own about 60 to 70 CD's (that I've bought) and about 170 that I have got from friends/downloaded.
I buy CD's from bands that don't have major record labels. Cause they get money that way. But the real way to support a band is by going to the shows
and buying their T-Shirts and stuff like that.

Good stuff.
I buy whenever possible, but metal can be hard to find sometimes, so I download a lot. I own well over 100 albums and about another 100 on my computer. I go to shows, buy merch and CD's, and order stuff online when I can, so I think I'm supporting the bands.

It's a little something called mx.
I was in the store yesterday contemplating whether or not to buy an album of a band I'd never heard of. I realized I was too jewish to risk my money like that so I got Demons & Wizards.

I read around, use metal archives, take suggestions from others, and download anything that looks like it may be interesting. Mx has played a huge role in what I listen to. Without it, I never heard of any of the music I like now, so I guess I owe my whole musical future to those who have introduced me to metal around here. :)

Purely out of interest, does anyone have the tabs to Extreme Pentatonics by Rusty Cooley?
If anyone does, could they please send it to me? I would be eternally grateful if someone could.

There is a thread in the guitar forum which has links to that book and many more. It shouldn't be hard to find.

Is there a tab for it?
also I'm trying to set this as the backround for my myspace

But I need it to be much bigger and I have to clue how to re-format GIF files....help?

If you don't want it I won't bother uploading it.
There is a Guitar Pro tab of the Vivaldi thing but not the jam.
I don't know how to resize gifs but you can just search for Children of Bodom on Google images and see if there's one similar.

Wow they really hate me over in the Power Metal thread...
First I get yelled at for trying to plead my case that Iced Earth is closer to Thrash (melodic stuff like Metallica not raw stuff like Slayer) than Power Metal. Then Lord Abortion says "my opinion sucks" for not liking Blaze Bailey in Iron Maiden.

I don't know how to make them smaller, the program I use isn't very detailed, it won't even let me slow down the transition between each frame so everything has to be in real time. I might try and get a different one.

A bit of a scuffle in the Power Metal thread...
First a few days ago I brought up my point about how Iced Earth is considered Power Metal a little too easily, and I thought that they were closer to melodic thrash stuff like Metallica in their prime. Everyone acted like I just said the dumbest thing ever yet I had a well thought out point that was backed up with as much evidence as I could, yet still people just flamed the hell out of me.
Then today we were talking about Iron Maiden in there and Riva said this is the Power Metal thread why are we talking about Maiden. Most people agreed that they were a big influence on Power Metal and that they should be allowed to be talked about in there, and I said they are about as Power Metal as Iced Earth. Riva then goes into this completely BS argument about how Maiden is closer to Melodic Death than they are Power Metal. I said Maiden sounds A LOT closer to Dragonforce than Arch Enemy, and first thing he says is suttin like Arch Enemy is garabge, I thought that was especially rude. Then he goes into this completely overgeneralized analysis on how Maiden is more like melodeath.

Ever notice how almost all arguments arise over what genre a band is, not how good their music is?

Yeah but even beside the genre argument he said Arch Enemy sucks. That's gotta be the most elitist comment I've ever heard, he thinks he's so "above" bands like Bodom and Arch Enemy just becuase they are so mainstream in Metal now.
