Woah, I didn't notice we had a fellow Ohio CoB fan here. :) Hello there.

My favorites:
Something Wild - Deadnight Warrior
Hatebreeder - Warheart
Follow the Reaper - I love every song, probably Kissing the Shadows
Hate Crew Deathroll - Hate Crew Deathroll
Are You Dead Yet? - Bastards of Bodom
Yep, I've talked to you once before, right? I think we went to the same concert in Detroit?

Yea, I tend to spend most of my time in the guitar forum, but I am going to start coming around here more often. Theres not a lot of COB fans to talk to around where I live. I can count maybe three in our school, including me, and we all happen to be in the same band. Everyone else listens to Green Day

I miss the CoB/Amon Amarth show so bad. I havn't been to many concerts, and that one was probably the most fun. Although, since I still don't have a drivers permit I couldn't drive there, so I had to leave early because the one driving would be late for work. So mad that I missed Bodom play Downfall...

Trivium did give a poor performance. I don't like them much anyway, but it was pretty cool when they played "Walk" by Pantera... they got everyone to stand up. Amon Amarth was friggin great too...

Me too. Trivium was nothing but a violent crowd while Amon Amarth actually played well. I was surprised at the huge amount of Trivium fans there were.

The sad part to this is that there might soon be more people knowing about Trivium than CoB just because of that whole Hardcore fad. I hate hardcore, but there are so many of them damn mall kids walking around talking about how awsome random crappy bands are that they will eventually come around to Trivium. It's actually already happened over here in Mass though.

Yes you can definitely tell how much Alexi has improved throughout their albums. Even live performances, his solo duel with Janne was faster and more complicated than War Of Razors, from Tokyo Warhearts.

Ehh...i thought his voice in Hatebreeder seemed sloppy. Personally, i thought his voice gets better as the albums get newer. But thats just me. Awesome about the Jackson, what exactly did you get? I just got a DXMG not long ago.

I heard hatebreeder after HCDR so I was more used to the new sound of his voice. Then when I got it, I was shocked as to how raspy it was, most along the lines of black metal. But now it's normal, I don't think about it, I absolutely love it.

I took one look to the Children of Decadence solo, and looked away hahaha. I am still working on my alternate picking technique, because I believe I am slow and my fingers are really weak. I do that chromatic excercise that alot of people do, but it only helps a little bit. I need to start off on easier solos.

MRDuCran
12-28-2005, 06:23 PM
The Sixpounder sols IS hard so don't expect to be able to play it so soon. Those string skipped arpeggios are what get me in that.

King_Of_Terrors
12-28-2005, 06:24 PM

Meh. It sounds pretty hard.

But seriously, Children Of Decadence is probably the easiest Bodom solo there is.

King_Of_Terrors
12-28-2005, 06:49 PM
Children Of Decandence is pretty tough, I guess. I hadn't heard the real thing in awhile and it is pretty damn fast. The scales and stuff and easy, but playing it that fast without skipping any notes or anything is pretty damn hard.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood
12-28-2005, 06:53 PM

King_Of_Terrors

Good luck then. I've only been playing a little under three years, so I don't think I'll be playing tons of Bodom stuff yet.

Where is Gates Of Metal at?

MRDuCran
12-28-2005, 07:20 PM
Children of Decadence eh, I think the only bit in that solo that I would need to practise is the bit where it's descending 3 notes per string using the pentatonic scale.

King_Of_Terrors
12-28-2005, 07:26 PM
That is the easiest part!

MRDuCran
12-28-2005, 07:32 PM
Nah.

King_Of_Terrors
12-28-2005, 07:35 PM
Yeah it is. What is so hard about it?

MRDuCran
12-28-2005, 07:37 PM
It's wide stretches, quick position shifts, string alternate inside picking 16th notes at 145bpm.

But then again, I take my accuraccy extremely serious.

King_Of_Terrors
12-28-2005, 07:39 PM
Oh crap, I'm probably thinking of the wrong part. What part is it? How far into the song?

MRDuCran
12-28-2005, 07:40 PM
Well, you got the delay part, then the 1 bar sweep, then the next bar is the one I'm talking about.

King_Of_Terrors
12-28-2005, 07:41 PM
Oh yes, that part. That is probably the hardest part, the sweep is surprisingly easy though.

/sucks at sweeps

MRDuCran
12-28-2005, 07:43 PM
Yeah I find sweeping real easy since I started learning it the proper way, starting slow, unlike some people over in the guitar forum. SShhh, don't tell em that, I'm sure they realise that anyway. :P

I think the Bodom Beach Terror solo section is pretty difficult.

King_Of_Terrors

It is quite good, Laiho improvises alot in Lake Bodom.

MRDuCran
12-28-2005, 08:48 PM
More rare, thanks.

Improvises? Are you sure he's not just buggering it up. :p

Haha must be the first time I've said anything negative about Mr. Laiho, but I know how sloppy he was back then but now I've heard he's kicking maximum ***, and I'll get to experience this from front row. :D

Shadows
12-28-2005, 08:50 PM
Actually, the word is rarer.

I'm pretty sure he improvises.

MRDuCran
12-28-2005, 09:09 PM
Yeah I do believe he does, I've seen him on some videos and that Passage to the Reaper thing, surely some of that jam thing is improv.

King_Of_Terrors
12-28-2005, 09:20 PM
Well if it is a jam then he is obviously improvising

MRDuCran
12-28-2005, 09:26 PM
There are licks and stuff that he's practised and rehearsed, it doesn't sound compeltely improvised, it's like he's listening for the timings as to when to play each lick.

King_Of_Terrors

Something Wild, Hate Crew Deathroll and a new copy of Follow the Reaper, I think thats what I got. I'm bad with names.

I already had Follow the Reaper but my copy is trashed, the only other one I had was Hatebreeder.

LEGO versions of the CoB guys and LEGO instruments n shat, and theres Hate Me playing in the background so it looks like they're playing it cause they're moving too.

BUT

The version of Hate Me in the background isn't the album version, it's the EP version with a different solo, the solo that Alexi teachs you how to play in the new Young guitar magazine that I'm getting so I want the full version.

When you tune, do you lossen the lock, or do you take thing off completely? I notice a change in the sound when it's taken off, but if I loosen it enough for me to change the tuning, I can keep the string sounding good while I tune.

Hmm, yeah usually threads asking questions get like 4 replies then are never seen again.

Toaster
12-29-2005, 05:44 PM
It could be that when you lock your nut (that is what you mean, right?), the string is pushed higher from the fretboard.. so that when you unlock it the strings are too close to the frets and buzz as a result. There could be something caught in your nut, a small piece of dust/dirt or something, so I suggest you get a toothpick in there. If that doesn't help, you could always tune by buying a chromatic tuner and tuning with your A (5th fret, first string) and your E (fifth fret, second string).

Shadows
12-29-2005, 05:45 PM
Toaster could be right, it could be buzz caused from extremely low action. You could try raising the bridge a bit to see if that helps too.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood
12-29-2005, 05:47 PM
Obviously not where your looking:p

lol ya obviously, i already found out anyways didnt like the way to get them tho so it sucks

Toaster
12-29-2005, 05:51 PM
Also, like my guitar, it could be that your truss rod needs adjustment. I used to have this terrible buzz only on my high E string, and the action was fairly high. This happens when you have a bend in the neck that goes away from the fretboard.. meaning that the tip of the headstock bends away from the top of the guitar. Most people have the opposite- this is because of string tension over years bending the neck. But the one I'm talking about is a factory defect, and can be fixed relatively easily. Look at your guitar from the headstock down over the fretboard, and if it looks bent away from the fretboard, take it into a repair shop.

I just got the In Your Face DVD in. It's from Finland and the guy that shipped it to me wrapped it in newspaper so obviously in Finnish too, pretty cool IMO. The shape of the actual case is really good too, much nice to hold than a normal CD/DVD, it's all rounded with little bumps n stuff.

The 1st version of INF is the normal one I uploaded.

The 2nd version is stereo so the guitars are really quiet and you can hear the bass way fukkin loud!

Sixpounder live at Wacken I've got also but it starts earlier and ends later than mine, plus it's perfect quality.

Bastards of Bodom is pretty funny, as to be expected from drunken people.
Starts off showing the band, they've been buried under the sand and Alexi is attempting to use his hand to drink, and to pass the bottle over to the rest of the guys. Jaska is in some weird green mask, dno why.

It's then got Are You Dead Yet playing in the background while it shows some messing around and stuff.

A perfect quality live performance of Angels Don't Kill from the beginning of this AYDY tour.

Then shows the recording of the album with Living Dead Beat in the background.

I did also notice 2 people kissing with tongues, like just the tongues.............

WTF Alexi is gay!? I never in my whole life would have thought that...sick. That's just...

My favorite songs off of Hatebreeder are Silent Night Bodom Night, Black Widow, Children Of Bodom, and Downfall.

Alexi always seemed like he could be gay to me...

That new guy is in for a surprise when he hears Hatebreeder and FTR cause I bet he's never heard anything even remotely power metal before. It was quite a shock when I first heard it too.

It's Japanese so it won't be relased anywhere apart from there which means you'll have to import it like me. :D

ALSO

Look what I just made:

Well, wouldn't you expect that it would make it to those P2P type things like Bearshare for people to download like the other videos have? I don't have the money like most people to get it. I only purchase cd's and dvd's by bands sometimes, but never import stuff.

He told me he loved it. He put on FTR and said it was great. Then I told him to listen to Warheart, and he thought it was totally different.

Which it kind of is.

Yeah Hatebreeder is just like heavier power metal with harsh vocals and blast beats. FTR is significantly different, closer to more traditional modern metal, much heavier and such, only one song with any neoclassical.

Isn't there only one song on Hatebreeder with blast beats? Warheart?

Hatebreeder also has blast beats, there may be a few more.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that song. All of Something Wild has them too, right? Except for Lake Bodom, I haven't listened to Something Wild in a long time.

I learnt Hatebreeder last night, really cool.
Which now means I can play a part from every song off that album.

And no, I doubt Alexi is actually gay, it was just messing around.

PsychoticFlubber, I did actually forget about p2p, yeah it probably will get onto there, give it a few months.

What do you mean "it was just messing around"?

I can't remember if he was drunk in that part or not but they didn't have their mouths together or anything like cuddling too, it didn't look like they were in love...

Oh...well that's good. Alexi being gay would change how I look at him forever..

MRDuCran

Yeah definately. Just seeing him drunk is very different to how he acts on stage so the first time I saw him in Trashed, Lost in Helsinki was a shock.
