Hey, leave powerchord alone... ...and learn how to spell.
I have a question, is this the official Children of Bodom thread? If so, are we making a cover band?

It's not official because the mod's aren't going to make another official thread. But it is the largest, so it's considered the official.

One of my creations. My other one is with that ****ed up little paperclip from MS Word.
Alexi shreds like Vishnu, so it's gonna be hella hard to copy him. For vocals, a nice mucus-garbled voice will sound perfect.

I'd love to play rythym guitar for a cover band, I've got a podxt so I'm all set for recording. I'm not quite good enough to play lead, but I have a few Bodom solos under my belt. Some of the leads are way too tough for me tho.

Hmm I just looked at the track listing for the new Children of Bodom cd, Are You Dead Yet? It sounds like they still are going the HCDR way, a big letdown in my books. Although a decent album, it seems much thrashier, almost a metalcore sound because of the "we hate you" attitude and the lower sound. Just judging by the song names they still seem like they are making "pissed off" music as opposed to their older cds which were all about cool melodies. I'm hoping they actually incorporate some kind of classical sound like in their first 3 cds, and they stop playing heavier hcdr type stuff. But judging from the song titles, it's another HCDR, and the Trashed, Lost, & Strungout EP didn't make me think otherwise.

I'm not expecting them to ever make another FTR. I think we better just get used to the newer sound. Personally, I love both styles. I have a "driving" compilation CD I made that has an old and new song every other track. It's like a best of both worlds, and I love both.

I know the feeling. I can play every part of that song except the solos, which I haven't attempted yet. Playing CoB leads is a stretch for me since I haven't really been playing very long but the results are both painful in the hands yet rewarding to the ears.
As for Alexi's vocals, I hate the way they're going. He's changed to more of a conventional type of scream instead of his black metal type vocals. That kills me. I would love for Alexi to sound the way he did on Sometihng Wild again.

Most all CoB is played in standard D tuning, except lately they've been dabbling in drop C.
And FTR owns anything they've ever done afterward, although there is no such thing as bad Bodom.

FtR is the best - but the dark, atmospheric feel of Something Wild is incredible. I would put it on the same level as FtR. Classic Bodom...which we may never see again. They seemed to have changed their style right after debuting. Keyboards are now used for melody instead of atmosphere. That's too bad, because I'd love to have more tracks like Deadnight Warrior or In the Shadows.

Sixpounder has a solo thats melodic as hell. Alexi said that on Hate Crew he was trying to make his rhythm writing better so that explains a bit.

It means that there is less song structure and things flow a little more smoothly. There may still be a recurring theme but it "progresses" from one section to another. Listen to some Dream Theater like The Glass Prison to see what I am talking about.

Ok but im a guy so im going to go along with the second part of that sentence.
:p It was great though. Watching them play around in the snow at Lake Bodom and when they get all that cash they go and buy all that booze and spray stuff and weird hats. They would be so awesome to hang out with.

I hope they are the future of mainstream american metal. As far as Finland goes, they are the present, they are on the radio and everything there. They have started a giant movement of melodic power/speed bands though, and hopefully it sweeps America. You can really see it as bands like Imperanon pop up, who see Bodom the same way we do. Hopefully bands like this wipe out Metalcore and give us something good to listen to.

Ok. So I've had a revelation. I'm going to double check the dates for Bodom at the House of Blues to make sure I got it right. Powertab is good because you can see both guitar parts at the same time, but you don't have all the other instruments. Half my love for GP4 is because I can make bass or key tracks for my own songs. Hey everyone :).

powertabs can be good depending on the tab you get like i got alice in chans them bones and when i went to my teacher he said the tabs all wrong (like metallicas sanitarium also) people that tab on there tend to do it the harder more confusing way

Its like GuitarPro but IMO a lot better. You dont have to keep switching instruments. I can get you the download link if you want to check it out. Also the people who tab the songs pretty much tab it perfectly.
They tab the keyboard solos too

Its like GuitarPro but IMO a lot better. You dont have to keep switching instruments. I can get you the download link if you want to check it out. Also the people who tab the songs pretty much tab it perfectly.
They tab the keyboard solos too
Sure, If you could get me the link that would be great.

powertabs can be good depending on the tab you get like i got alice in chans them bones and when i went to my teacher he said the tabs all wrong (like metallicas sanitarium also) people that tab on there tend to do it the harder more confusing way
Theres something called tablature and then there's musical theory. The more confusing way is probably the correct way since it follow the chord structures whereas in tabworld you dont play in chords. Thats why i like powertab b/c they write it correctly
http://powertabs.net/
Go down to links and click Official PT site then go to downloads and get the harmony-central one and then click download. The link i posted has all the tabs for the bands and you can even write your own songs and submit them to see what others think of your material.

After countless lyric searches I found absolutely no matches. I looked on metal archives today cause I recently discovered the great site, and it is actually Norther is was from their demo. It doesn't sound like Norther, you could probably stick this song in Something Wild by Bodom and no one would even notice.

Well I haven't heard too much from Death Unlimited but Mirror of Madness is a great album and really gives them a unique sound from Bodom. It is much slower, melodic, simple, and atmospheric. This song however was one of the first they ever recorded and it was just a Bodom ripoff, but still a good song.
