I don't think they have any DVD's that are purly just them in concert, I could be wrong but i've never heard of any. But there are metal DVD's that feature CoB which aren't really that great. You'd be best off just downloading them off a p2p program.
Actually, there's a Trashed, Lost and Strungout DVD that came with one of their singles that's got a few lives videos on I think.

I Have been looking for it everywhere...i Know it was only released on the Japanese Version of AYDY? i believe, but I was hoping one of you stumbled across it and got it. I think each album is amazing for what it is supposed to be. My rankings then depend on taste, because I like powermetal signifigantly more than nwoahm. I think Hatebreeder by far is the most powermetal album, and almost literally takes the genre most people refer to Bodom as powermetal with harsh vocals. I don't really refer to them as that, I call it Extreme Powermetal becuase FTR is also pretty powermetal but not enough to simply say its powermetal without clean vocals, it's got more extreme influences. On to my rankings...
1. Hatebreeder
2. Something Wild
3. Follow the Reaper (very very tough decision with 2 and 3, almost interchangeable)
4. HCDR
5. AYDY
I think HCDR and AYDY just have too much American influence for me to say they are amazing, but they certainly are quality albums.

My thing about Hatebreeder is every song is equally good. There has been a time where every one of them has been my favorite. That's never happened to me with the other albums. I know some of you don't like some songs on Hatebreeder but it is really just a matter of taste, because they were all equally well written. Something Wild is very neoclassical and their most epic, two of my favorite aspects of music. I like that so much because Bodom doesn't make very much epic sounding music. A lot of people crap on In the Shadows (including Alexi himself) but I think it is their most epic song and has a lot of really cool melodies and emotion to it.
Shadows

Something Wild is my favorite (well, tied for it at least). I love Hatebreeder, but some of the songs on it just seem really unoriginal for some reason. It's all opinion anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. I've felt the same way aobut Follow the Reaper (and Something Wild) for a very long time.

I can't stand Dragonforce along with most other powermetal bands, because 3/4 of each song is amazing. That last 1/4 is so cheesy I just wanna hit myself. Stratovarius is the same way, one of Bodom's biggest influences. Their neoclassical parts are great the solos are great, but then they completely butcher it with a major scale riff and lyrics about learning to fly.

For me Hatebreeder is tied for my favourite with Follow the Reaper. I really like Hatebreeder cause its consitent and has lots of good songs like Warheart and Children of Bodom and I like Follow the Reaper cause it has some absolutely ammazing songs(bodom after midnight, children of decadence and kissing the shadows). I don't have Something Wild though so I don't know where it would stand.

You have to bypass the cheesiness...then it becomes some of the greatest stuff ever. Until you realize that every song sounds almost exactly the same. Then it becomes slightly less great, but still head and shoulders above a majority of bands.
Their music will give you A.D.D. though.
I actually listened to Bodom for the first time in a month today.

I don't see the point of trying to bypass the cheesiness, that's the whole reason I listen to Bodom. It's the same thing without the cheesiness.
And yes, every song is about 95% the same. Dragonforce goes like this...
1. Super fast intro usually non cheesy riff
2. Super fast verse
3. Semi-cheesy prechorus
4. Extremely cheesy chorus
5. Repeat steps 2-4
6. Six minute solo duel, involves lots of repetetive tapping
7. Repeat steps 2-4
8. Repeat step 1
MRDuCran
10-26-2005, 08:46 PM
Dragonforce bore the hell out of me. They have a few cool riffs here and there but I can't stand those 6 minute guitar duels and the fact that every song does sound the same as everyone points out. Give me some Cacophony anyday.

You have to bypass the cheesiness...then it becomes some of the greatest stuff ever. Until you realize that every song sounds almost exactly the same. Then it becomes slightly less great, but still head and shoulders above a majority of bands.
The cheesiness is about 70% of why I listen to it, haha.

I hate that sh!t too man, front row for Lamb of God and all the way through there was just people pushing constantly, people crowd surfing (OUCH!!) getting kicked in the head from that, hands in the air, it's complete madness but I only go down there to get clsoe to the bands and I sure as hell am going to do that for Bodom!!
Sooo I'm guessing that's why the other non-moshers do it too.
I was in the pit for Slipknot too and it was sooo irritating, I crowd surfed myself out just so I wouldn't kill anyone.

Moshing is for killing time. You don't mosh during a band you like - you mosh because you don't care about the music but you like the energy of the show. When you like the music, you listem and maybe do some headbanging. The only time I ever moshed was at a ska show when my friend pushed my into the pit. Fun, but kind of a waste of time.
Toaster
10-29-2005, 12:17 AM
You pretty much have to be over 6' to be in a mosh pit and hope to survive. Since I don't fit this criteria, I can't say much about it.. only that I think it's pretty stupid and pointless. It's more of a macho "yeah I'm tough" thing IMO, and it seems sort of senseless; you see a lot of people getting injured at big metal concerts.
Shadows
10-29-2005, 12:21 AM
Not true. I'm a fairly short guy (about 5'6", maybe a little taller) moshing with a crowd of bigger guys, and I was fine. The trick is to never fall down, or else you'll be trampled.
Moshing is senseless. It can also be pretty insane. The first time I saw Shadows Fall live, some guy broke his leg pretty nicely during their first song. A security guy had to help him out since he was hopping on one foot.

Yeah, I'm generalizing, but I'd feel like I was in constant danger in a mosh pit. Weighing over 130 pounds would help me I think. Crowdsurfing is way more fun, less dangerous and sometimes the band lets you on stage! :thumb:

Actually, I did see that, its the Black Label video I think. I saw that back when I was getting into metal; I had no idea what they were trying to do. Now that I've seen it with my own eyes I can say it's one of the funniest yet most pointless "dances" ever.

If I had the choice, I'd walk in there and hack the kunts up with a chainsaw or something.
I saw LoG at Download, there were a few hardcore dancers, but not too many, more people were just moshing. And there was a HUGE circle pit. I hate hardcore dancers with a passion, they're idiots.

Got it in one really.
Moshing is fun (and not as violent as people make it out to be either), but purely for atmosphere and energy. In bands I really like, I would rather just crush up at the front and enjoy the show rather than mosh. However, for other bands (e.g. metalcore support acts who are generally pretty energising) I would mosh.

I would be killed in a mosh pit, trust me i would end up falling down in the beggining and then get trampeled by a bunch of huge men and there huge feet :p

Actually, I did see that, its the Black Label video I think. I saw that back when I was getting into metal; I had no idea what they were trying to do. Now that I've seen it with my own eyes I can say it's one of the funniest yet most pointless "dances" ever.
Ditto to all of that post. I hate them.
I was also at download this year but fortunately I was at the front so I wasn't involved with the massive pit.

Go to YSI, on the "select file" bar thing click "browse" and select the file to upload, and click the :upload" button on the bottom. Once it's finished, it will give you a link, which you will copy and paste into a post.

EDIT: It's not necessarily for the competitioin as I don't think it's thrash enough but if they alow it, why not.

Hah, I was wondering what that cool lick was.. at first I thought was clean guitar ! That's sounding awesome, I'm sure it'll be accepted but you may get docked for the whole keyboard thing.

I'd like to, but my motivation for writing thrash is virually non-existent. I like to enter these, but I really don't care about this one. I'll do the next genre, but there's still a slight chance I'll do this one.

Hmmm...
Not really sure...they don't bear much resembalance to any of the Gothenburg bands...
Its a lot of single note stuff, low down, some screaming, a lot of singing...their earlier stuff was a lot heavier, their newer is a lot more atmospheric.
