Only gripe I have with Dream Theater is they're so BORING live. They barely move, and they seem to just think of music as a 9 to 5 job...they didn't have any emotion in their faces when they played, save for Portney, and he was behind a big *** goddamn drumset.

They don't seem to love what they're doing...

However, they played the greatest setlist I've ever heard a band play, so that more than balances it out.

Dream Theater bores the living **** out of me. They're obviously incredible musicians, I'm not doubting that. John Petrucci is quite possibly the most overrated guitarist alive; he can shred, but that's really all I've ever heard him do, aside from basic rhythm stuff. I am one of the few people, however, who doesn't seem to have a problem with LaBrie's voice. The only member of that band who I can truly respect is Myung.

I like dream theater. I've never seen them live though, so I can't comment on that. I only have TOT and Octaviurm(sp?). I like Train of thought much more. I could see them being boring live though. It's great to listen to on CD but there would be no energy live.

On a note of my ever incresing CoB fanboyism. I heard of a band called Sinergy. I guess Alexi is the guitarist? I dl one of their cds. It's not that great. Almost like classic rock. The vocals are I think female and terrible to be nice.

Train of Thought is their "heavy" album. They really have nothing even close to matching the heaviness of that recording. Probably the second heaviest (and my personal favorite) is Awake. Labrie's singing is a bit more rough and ragged, but once you get used to it, it's an awesome album.

None of their other work sounds like Octavarium, either, save Falling Into Infinity, which is awful.
